Before the highly anticipated baseball tournament that is being broadcast live worldwide on the MLB Network, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes, players and fans gathered for a Catholic mass to ask for the protection of Mary. Rome was promoting its Eucharistic mass and Mary to a massive audience at the start of the 2025 Caribbean Baseball Series—an event that brings people together from different backgrounds. Ultimately, their goal was to evangelize and spread the Catholic message to a wide and varied audience.
Science is not a sport – we don’t have winners and losers. *Decisions made by HHS and the many agencies it oversees will impact our collective health, our economic strength and our national security*.
Yes, *Americans are independent people who make a lot of our own decisions regarding what’s best for ourselves and our families, but our health is inextricably linked.* HHS is one of the departments ensuring those connections are managed in ways that can *make us all safer and healthier.*

Aciprensa published the following on February 1, 2025:

Some churches will go to great lengths to impose their beliefs on others, even at events that seem far removed from religion, with their beer and alcohol advertising. While many religious groups respect the personal choices of others, these more extreme efforts often blur the line between personal conviction and aggressive proselytization, turning even casual social activities into battlegrounds for religious ideology.
During the period of papal rule from 538 to 1798, the Catholic Church, often backed by the power of various European monarchies, imposed its religion on the people in many ways. The Church also exercised significant political power, influencing laws and rulers to ensure that its doctrines were followed. In the final crisis, religious intolerance will rise again, as it did during the Middle Ages, as churches gain unchecked power and influence over governments. There are active movements today seeking to revive the union of church and state, with religious leaders and politicians working together, setting the stage for a resurgence of tyranny and oppression.
“When our nation shall so abjure the principles of its government as to enact a Sunday law, Protestantism will in this act join hands with popery; it will be nothing else than giving life to the tyranny which has long been eagerly watching its opportunity to spring again into active despotism” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 711).
“When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the State to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result” (Great Controversy, p. 445).
“The dignitaries of church and State will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor the Sunday. The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance. Liberty of conscience, which has cost so great a sacrifice, will no longer be respected” (Great Controversy, p. 592).
Until this week’s confirmation hearings for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, health has been overshadowed by other issues. Even the recent news about the pause of communications from HHS and other health agencies has not been top of mind for most people.

But with the confirmation hearings this week, it’s a good time to consider the programs and functions HHS and its secretary oversee and how that work affects citizens across the country. The department’s work affects the young and old, the healthy and sick, the insured and the uninsured.

For example, HHS helps provide health insurance for 1 in 3 Americans through Medicare and Medicaid. The Food and Drug Administration and other agencies help ensure the safety of the nation’s food supply, drugs and medical devices. Among other priorities, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention monitors emerging diseases and funds work in communities across the country to make people healthier. The National Institutes of Health funds medical research that seeks cures for a wide range of diseases. Other parts of HHS provide essentials like food for qualified seniors and hearing aids for people with low incomes.

Those who have trusted to intellect, genius, or talent will not then stand at the head of rank and file. They did not keep pace with the light. Those who have proved themselves unfaithful will not then be entrusted with the flock.In the last solemn work few great men will be engaged. They are self-sufficient, independent of God, and He cannot use them. The Lord has faithful servants, who in the shaking, testing time will be disclosed to view. In all, the department oversees 13 divisions with 10 regional offices that in total employ more than 80,000 workers. And the HHS secretary is the quarterback — coordinating plays between federal, state and local authorities, and setting policy that helps address current health needs and future threats.
The agency is the nation’s largest grantmaker, with a significant amount of federal funding supporting programs at the state and local levels, including Medicaid costs, block grants states use for a variety of programs and emergency funding for things like infectious diseases, natural disasters and opioid programs.

Consider this: when COVID-19 hit, hospitals in some regions quickly became overwhelmed, leading to resource shortages elsewhere. Supply chain issues from manufacturers in one place made it hard for rural clinics and urban hospitals across the nation to get basic protective equipment for staff. We saw firsthand how the health of one community can quickly ripple across the country. A cough or a sneeze in the Northeast can quickly become a problem in the Southwest.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.” While these prophecies received a partial fulfillment at the destruction of Jerusalem, they have a more direct application to the last days. We are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Prophecy is fast fulfilling. The Lord is at the door. There is soon to open before us a period of overwhelming interest to all living. The controversies of the past are to be revived; new controversies will arise. The scenes to be enacted in our world are not yet even dreamed of. Satan is at work through human agencies. Those who are making an effort to change the Constitution and secure a law enforcing Sunday observance little realize what will be the result. A crisis is just upon us. In May 2019, Pope Francis invited young economists and entrepreneurs from all over the world to brainstorm ways of making the global economy more responsive to the poor and to the planet. He called for “a different kind of economy: one that brings life not death, one that is inclusive and not exclusive, humane and not dehumanizing, one that cares for the environment and does not despoil it.”

And so the Economy of Francesco was born. Since its founding, the initiative has challenged and inspired thousands of young economists and entrepreneurs from all over the world to create a new economic paradigm that values the Earth and Earth’s people and not only financial profit.
A New Economic Paradigm Order – NWO
Elizabeth Garlow is one of the young economists whom Francis inspired. She is the co-founder of the Francesco Collaborative which “partners with faith-based investors to reimagine an investment practice anchored in Catholic Social Teaching.” As an economics major at Kalamazoo College, Garlow became disillusioned with the underlying assumptions of her traditional economics courses. She had grown up in a staunchly Catholic family and wondered if there could be “a different way of thinking about how we structure and build an economy … how we produce and provide for one another.”
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
These wonderings led to a three-month sojourn to Argentina and Brazil for her senior thesis researching an initiative begun by the Italian lay Catholic Focolare Movement, the Economy of Communion. In South America Garlow was deeply moved by an experience of being embedded with business leaders “who were making decisions to create enterprises that centered other kinds of values … their primary purpose was not to maximize shareholder wealth.”
After graduating, Garlow spent time in Italy with Focolare learning more about alternative financing models. When she returned home, she worked with several creative nonprofits serving marginalized people who had difficulty accessing traditional sources of credit. She soon began to wonder “how to use finance as a tool to create more equitable outcomes, more beautiful communities, more relationships rooted in solidarity.”

The Roman Church, with all its ramifications throughout the world, forms one vast organization, under the control, and designed to serve the interests, of the papal see. Its millions of communicants, in every country on the globe, are instructed to hold themselves as bound in allegiance to the pope. Whatever their nationality or their government, they are to regard the authority of the church as above all other. Though they may take the oath pledging their loyalty to the State, yet back of this lies the vow of obedience to Rome, absolving them from every pledge inimical to her interests.
Protestants little know what they are doing when they propose to accept the aid of Rome in the work of Sunday exaltation. While they are bent upon the accomplishment of their purpose, Rome is aiming to re-establish her power, to recover her lost supremacy. Let history testify of her artful and persistent efforts to insinuate herself into the affairs of nations; and having gained a foothold, to further her own aims, even at the ruin of princes and people. Romanism openly puts forth the claim that the pope “can pronounce sentences and judgments in contradiction to the right of nations, to the law of God and man.” [The “Decretalia.”] And let it be remembered, it is the boast of Rome that she never changes. The principles of Gregory VII. and Innocent III. are still the principles of the Romish Church. And had she but the power, she would put them in practice with as much vigor now as in past centuries. Let the principle once be established in the United States, that the church may employ or control the power of the State; that religious observances may be enforced by secular laws; in short, that the authority of church and State is to dominate the conscience, and the triumph of Rome in this country is assured.
God’s Word has given warning of the impending danger; let this be unheeded, and the Protestant world will learn what the purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage-ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever shall believe and obey the Word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution. GC88 580.1 – GC88 581.1

God has promised that where the shepherds are not true He will take charge of the flock Himself. God has never made the flock wholly dependent upon human instrumentalities. But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that His fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor. The days are fast approaching when there will be great perplexity and confusion. Satan, clothed in angel robes, will deceive, if possible, the very elect. There will be gods many and lords many. Satan delights in war, for it excites the worst passions of the soul and then sweeps into eternity its victims steeped in vice and blood. It is his object to incite the nations to war against one another, for he can thus divert the minds of the people from the work of preparation to stand in the day of God.
Satan works through the elements also to garner his harvest of unprepared souls. He has studied the secrets of the laboratories of nature, and he uses all his power to control the elements as far as God allows. GC 589.1 – GC 589.2

Those who hold fast their faith unto the end will come forth from the furnace of trial as fine gold seven times purified. Of this work the prophet Isaiah says, “I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.” [Isaiah 13:12.] When in trouble, remember that faith tried in the furnace of affliction is more precious than gold tried with fire. Remember that there is One watching every movement, to see when the last particle of dross is taken away from your character. It is then that you are counted more precious than the golden wedge of Ophir. By hiding with Christ in God, fallen man reaches this state of purity.
Those who love the riches of this world should remember that faith in Christ is more precious than gold; for gold perishes. The saints of the living God have a glorious hope, the fruition of which is a life of immortality. The season of distress and anguish before us will require a faith that can endure weariness, delay, and hunger—a faith that will not faint though severely tried. The period of probation is granted to all to prepare for that time. Jacob prevailed because he was persevering and determined. His victory is an evidence of the power of importunate prayer. All who will lay hold of God’s promises, as he did, and be as earnest and persevering as he was, will succeed as he succeeded GC 621.2
Wake up, my brethren and sisters! There is a great work to be done. Unceasing activity is called for. Darkness has covered the earth, and gross darkness the people. Many are far from Christ, wandering in the wilderness of sin. God calls upon His people to shake off their careless indifference, and take up the work waiting for them. Let them commune with Him, that they may be imbued with His Spirit. Then let them go forth to bestow on those in need the grace they have received.
The coming of Christ is nearer than when we first believed. The great controversy is nearing its end. Already God’s judgments have begun to call. How frequently we hear of earthquakes and tornadoes, of destruction by fire and flood, with great loss of life and property. Apparently these calamities are capricious outbreaks of seemingly disorganized, unregulated forces, but in them God’s purpose may be read. Those entrusted with the stewardship of the Lord’s goods have dealt as worldlings deal, and God has been dishonored. There are those who have advanced step by step in unrighteousness, notwithstanding that God has sent them continual warnings. They cared for none of these things. To be checked or interfered with caused hatred to spring up in their hearts against those who tried to stop them in their course of selfishness and greed. They will gain nothing by their effort. The Lord will not prosper their transactions, but will bring them to naught. “Thus saith the Lord, He that being often reproved, hardeneth his heart, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. I have spoken by My servants, and they would not; I will now speak by My judgments, by purifying fires, and if they do not then repent, I will speak to them by still greater afflictions. If they will be true to principle, if they will represent Christ in character, if they will put away all fraud and all sharp practices, I will hear their prayer. But the prayers of evil workers will I not hear. I will come close to them in judgment. I will turn and overturn. In no case will those who lend themselves to selfishness see the kingdom of God, unless they repent, and that right early.” In clear, distinct rays, light has been shining upon the people of God. But many have not been benefited. They have mingled with sacred things that which God detests. They have violated their baptismal vows. They have not kept their promise to come out from the world and be separate and touch not the unclean thing. They have spoken words of deceit, swearing falsely. They have made idols of themselves. God declares, “Had they adhered steadfastly to My service, I should have co-operated with them, and My peace and grace should have been with them, while they served Me with singleness of purpose. But they turned aside from My counsel, leaving undone the very work that they ought to have done. My work was made second.” Means was spent to obtain facilities for the doing of commercial work. The time and talents of the workers were used in this work. But when it was done, what profit was it to the work of God? Thousands who profess to be Christians give heed to lying spirits. Everywhere the spirit of darkness in the garb of religion will confront you. If all that appears to be divine life were such in reality; if all who profess to present the truth to the world were preaching for the truth and not against it, and if they were men of God guided by His Spirit,—then might we see something cheering amid the prevailing moral darkness. But the spirit of antichrist is prevailing to such an extent as never before. Well may we exclaim: “Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.” I know that many think far too favorably of the present time. These ease-loving souls will be engulfed in the general ruin. Yet we do not despair. We have been inclined to think that where there are no faithful ministers there can be no true Christians, but this is not the case. God has promised that where the shepherds are not true He will take charge of the flock Himself. God has never made the flock wholly dependent upon human instrumentalities.But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that His fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor. 5T 79.3 – 5T 79.4

The days are fast approaching when there will be great perplexity and confusion. Satan, clothed in angel robes, will deceive, if possible, the very elect. There will be gods many and lords many. Every wind of doctrine will be blowing. Those who have rendered supreme homage to “science falsely so called” will not be the leaders then. Those who have trusted to intellect, genius, or talent will not then stand at the head of rank and file. They did not keep pace with the light. Those who have proved themselves unfaithful will not then be entrusted with the flock. In the last solemn work few great men will be engaged. They are self-sufficient, independent of God, and He cannot use them. The Lord has faithful servants, who in the shaking, testing time will be disclosed to view. There are precious ones now hidden who have not bowed the knee to Baal. They have not had the light which has been shining in a concentrated blaze upon you. But it may be under a rough and uninviting exterior the pure brightness of a genuine Christian character will be revealed. In the day time we look toward heaven but do not see the stars. They are there, fixed in the firmament, but the eye cannot distinguish them. In the night we behold their genuine luster. The time is not far distant when the test will come to every soul. The mark of the beast will be urged upon us. Those who have step by step yielded to worldly demands and conformed to worldly customs will not find it a hard matter to yield to the powers that be, rather than subject themselves to derision, insult, threatened imprisonment, and death.
