The Bible will be opened from house to house, and men and women will find access to these homes, and minds will be opened to receive the Word of God; and when the crisis comes, many will be prepared to make right decisions even in the face of the formidable difficulties that will be brought about through the deceptive miracles of Satan. Although these will confess the truth and become workers with Christ at the eleventh hour, they will receive equal wages with those who have wrought through the whole day. 1888 Materials, Pg 511
Thousands in the eleventh hour will see and acknowledge the truth…. These conversions to truth will be made with a rapidity that will surprise the church, and God’s name alone will be glorified.—Selected Messages2:16 (1890).
There will be thousands converted to the truth in a day who at the eleventh hour see and acknowledge the truth and the movements of the Spirit of God.—EGW’88 755 (1890).
The time is coming when there will be as many converted in a day as there were on the Day of Pentecost, after the disciples had received the Holy Spirit.—Evangelism, 692 (1905).
And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.Revelation 17 : 15

The end of all things is nearer than many of our people seem to realize. I wish that all might sense its nearness; for then they would be untiring in their efforts to warn others who have never heard the truths of the last warning message. A few are taking up the work here and there, but there is a vast field untouched, and as a people we need to receive a large measure of the Holy Spirit, that we may feel an intense interest in those about us who are unwarned. 25LtMs, Ms 5, 1910, par. 2

HONOLULU (AP) — Commercial fishing that recently resumed in a vast protected area of the Pacific Ocean must halt once again, after a judge in Hawaii sided this week with environmentalistschallenging a Trump administration rollback of federal ocean protections.
The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.Isaiah 19 : 8
The lawsuit says allowing commercial fishing in the monument expansion would also harm the “cultural, spiritual, religious, subsistence, educational, recreational, and aesthetic interests” of a group of Native Hawaiian plaintiffs who are connected genealogically to the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific.
The remote Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument is home to turtles, marine mammals and seabirds, which environmental groups say will get snagged by longline fishing, an industrial method involving baited hooks from lines 60 miles (about 100 kilometers) or longer.
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.Acts 10 : 28
The church will see the providential working of the Lord of hosts. The light of truth will shine forth in clear, strong rays, and, as in the time of the apostles, many souls will turn from error to truth. The earth will be lighted with the glory of the Lord. Heavenly angels have long been waiting for human agents—the members of the church—to co-operate with them in the great work to be done. They are waiting for you. So vast is the field, so comprehensive the design, that every sanctified heart will be pressed into service as an instrument of divine power. 9T 46.2 – 9T 46.3
President Donald Trump’s executive order to allow this and other types of commercial fishing in part of the monument changed regulations without providing a process for public comment and rulemaking and stripped core protections from the monument, the groups argued in a lawsuit.
Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, “Follow Me.” There is need of coming close to the people by personal effort. If less time were given to sermonizing, and more time were spent in personal ministry, greater results would be seen. The poor are to be relieved, the sick cared for, the sorrowing and the bereaved comforted, the ignorant instructed, the inexperienced counseled. We are to weep with those that weep, and rejoice with those that rejoice. Accompanied by the power of persuasion, the power of prayer, the power of the love of God, this work will not, cannot, be without fruit.—The Ministry of Healing, 143, 144. GW 363.2 – GW 363.3
U.S. District Judge Micah W. J. Smith granted a motion by the environmentalists on Friday. The ruling means boats catching fish for sale will need to immediately cease fishing in waters between 50 and 200 nautical miles (93 kilometers to 370 kilometers) around Johnston Atoll, Jarvis Island and Wake Island, said Earthjustice, an environmental law organization representing the plaintiffs.

U.S. Justice Department attorneys representing the government did not immediately return an email message seeking comment on Saturday.
The principles of health reform have been proclaimed by us as a people for thirty years. And yet there are among us ministers of the gospel and members of the church who have no respect for the light that God has given upon health reform. They eat as they please, and work as they please. God calls for a straight testimony to be given to those who claim to believe that we are living in the last days of this earth’s history. A line of distinction must be drawn between those who serve God, and those who serve him not. God calls upon his people to put away self-pleasing. When in body, soul, and spirit they will dedicate themselves to God, his power will be revealed in a remarkable manner. Here are men who are standing at the head of our various institutions, of the educational interests, and of the Conferences in different localities and in different States. All these are to stand as representative men, to have a voice in molding and fashioning the plans that shall be carried out. There are to be more than one or two or three men to consider the whole vast field. The work is great, and there is no one human mind that can plan for the work which needs to be done. GCB April 3, 1901, par. 27
Trump has said the U.S. should be “the world’s dominant seafood leader,” and on the same day of his April executive order, he issued another one seeking to boost commercial fishing by peeling back regulations and opening up harvesting in previously protected areas.
Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
Jeremiah 16 : 16
President George W. Bush created the marine monument in 2009. It consists of about 500,000 square miles (1.3 million square kilometers) in the remote central Pacific Ocean southwest of Hawaii. President Barack Obama expanded it in 2014.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not.1 Kings 18 : 44
Soon after Trump’s executive order, the National Marine Fisheries Service sent a letter to fishing permit holders giving them the green light to fish commercially in the monument’s boundaries, Earthjustice’s lawsuit says. Fishing resumed within days, the group said.
Government attorneys say the fisheries service’s letter merely notified commercial fishers of a change that had already taken place through Trump’s authority to remove the prohibition on commercial fishing in certain areas.
Earthjustice challenged that letter, and by granting the motion in their favor, the federal judge found the government had chosen not to defend its letter on the merits and forfeited that argument. Smith also ruled against the government’s other defenses, that the plaintiffs lacked standing to challenge the letter and that the court lacked jurisdiction over the matter.
David Henkin, an Earthjustice attorney, said Smith’s ruling requires the government to go through a process to determine what kind of fishing, and under what conditions, can happen in monument waters in a way that wouldn’t destroy the area.
Members of Hawaii’s longline fishing industry say they have made numerous gear adjustments and changes over the years, such as circle hooks, to avoid that.
God’s workers are to despair of nothing and hope for everything. We do not go forth in mere human strength. Christ has promised, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” [Matthew 28:20.] The field of labor is vast. Agencies of every kind will be set in action to oppose the work of God, and by indifference and unfaithfulness now, we shall range ourselves on the enemy’s side. No wall of selfishness is to be erected to prescribe certain limits to any person’s work in seeking to get light in any way before the people. 12LtMs, Ms 25, 1897, par. 6 – 12LtMs, Ms 25, 1897, par. 8

The Israeli government is defending a top military officer who dismissed images of starving Palestinians as “fake” over the weekend, despite President Trump stating Monday that he believes the pictures are real.
Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

The rupture comes amid growing international pressure on Israel over dire circumstances in the Palestinian enclave, and as two Israeli human rights groups, in a first, characterized the Israeli operation in Gaza as a genocide.
In recent days, photographs and videos of desperate Palestinians crowding aid stations and of emaciated children have spread across the globe. Even so, Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said Sunday that "there is no starvation in Gaza."
And on Sunday, during a press tour of a small area of the Gaza Strip, Effie Defrin, a commanding officer and Israel Defense Forces spokesman, told reporters that visuals emerging from Gaza were "breaking our hearts."
"But most of it is fake, fake distributed by Hamas," Defrin said. "It's a campaign. Unfortunately, some of the Israeli media, including some of the international media, is distributing this information and those false pictures, and creating an image of starvation which doesn't exist."

Trump rejected that explanation on Monday, telling reporters during a visit to Scotland that the United States would increase its efforts to get food into the territory. “That’s real starvation," he said. "I see it, and you can’t fake that."
"Israel can do a lot," he added, replying to a question on whether the state could help end the hunger crisis.
An Israeli official told The Times that the Israeli government stands by Defrin's remarks.
Israel opened additional corridors for humanitarian aid and began its own air drops of food on Sunday. The Israeli official said that, while aid is getting into Gaza, the United Nations and its affiliate organizations are failing to properly distribute it. Humanitarian workers have argued that conditions on the ground, with combat ongoing, have made it impossible for them to operate.
Netanyahu's office has argued that Hamas is diverting food and aid away from civilians as a war tactic. But assessments by USAID and the Israeli military found no evidence that Hamas is doing so on a wide scale.

In late May, Israel halted relief work by the United Nations and other humanitarian aid groups and handed those efforts to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Critics say the foundation's efforts have been insufficient and haphazard.

Last week, the World Health Organization said it has documented 21 children under 5 that had died of causes related to malnutrition since the beginning of the year, and the U.N. humanitarian office, OCHA, said that at least 13 children’s deaths were reported just this month.
The crisis comes as two Israeli rights groups long critical of the current Israeli government — B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel — issued assessments that the Israeli campaign amounts to a genocide against Palestinians.
“An examination of Israel’s policy in the Gaza Strip and its horrific outcomes, together with statements by senior Israeli politicians and military commanders about the goals of the attack, leads to the unequivocal conclusion that Israel is taking coordinated action to intentionally destroy Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip," the B’Tselem report stated. “In other words: Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.”
Israel began striking Hamas in Gaza after the organization launched a devastating attack against Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing nearly 1,200 Israeli civilians and security forces, and taking 251 others hostage.
The Israeli response has leveled entire Palestinian cities and displaced nearly all 2 million Palestinian inhabitants of the territory, killing nearly 60,000 Palestinian civilians and militants. On Monday, another series of strikes killed at least 78 Palestinians in Gaza, according to Hamas' health ministry.
Genocide — a word that weighs heavily in Israel, a state founded as a Jewish homeland after the Nazi Holocaust — is an international legal term with a specific definition: "Acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such." Debate over whether Israel's operation amounts to a genocide has raged since its earliest days.
Israel's government says that the war has continued because Hamas has refused to release approximately 50 hostages that remain in its custody throughout Gaza.
Negotiations over an end to the war, which would see Israel end hostilities in exchange for Hamas releasing the hostages, have seen fits and starts since the Biden administration.

Trump has alternately tried to broker a peace between Hamas and Israel, and at other times said that Hamas will face greater punishment unless it capitulates.
In Scotland, Trump pivoted away from the more aggressive approach. The president said he had told Netanyahu that Israel may have to find a "different way" to end the war, given the extent of the devastation on the ground.
"I'm speaking to Bibi Netanyahu, and we're coming up with various plans," Trump said, referring to Netanyahu by his nickname. "We're going to see. It's a very difficult situation."
Trump added, "If they didn't have the hostages, things would go very quickly. But they do, and we know where they have them, in some cases, and you don't want to go riding roughshod over that area, because that means those hostages will be killed."
"Now, there are some people that would say, that's the price you pay," he said. "But we don't like to say that. We don't want to say that."

But “the noon of the papacy was the midnight of the world.”—J. A. Wylie, The History of Protestantism, b. 1, ch. 4. The Holy Scriptures were almost unknown, not only to the people, but to the priests. Like the Pharisees of old, the papal leaders hated the light which would reveal their sins. God’s law, the standard of righteousness, having been removed, they exercised power without limit, and practiced vice without restraint. Fraud, avarice, and profligacy prevailed. Men shrank from no crime by which they could gain wealth or position. The palaces of popes and prelates were scenes of the vilest debauchery. Some of the reigning pontiffs were guilty of crimes so revolting that secular rulers endeavored to depose these dignitaries of the church as monsters too vile to be tolerated. For centuries Europe had made no progress in learning, arts, or civilization. A moral and intellectual paralysis had fallen upon Christendom. GC 60.2
Amid a summit characterized as “thorny” and “fraught” in Beijing, China and the European Union found common ground on one major issue, issuing a firm joint resolution on climate matters, the Los Angeles Times reported.
When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result…. The enforcement of Sundaykeeping on the part of Protestant churches is an enforcement of the worship of the papacy…. In the very act of enforcing a religious duty by secular power, the churches would themselves form an image to the beast; hence the enforcement of Sundaykeeping in the United States would be an enforcement of the worship of the beast and his image.—The Great Controversy, 445, 448, 449 (1911). LDE 131.1 – LDE 131.3
The Times described “an otherwise tense bilateral summit,” one “riven with major disagreements” over high-profile issues such as global trade and Russia’s war with Ukraine.
News sources around the world observed tension and discord at the summit Thursday — which makes the parties’ joint “press statement on climate” all the more striking.
At the beginning of the statement, the parties concurred that “in the fluid and turbulent international situation today, it is crucial that all countries, notably the major economies, maintain policy continuity and stability and step up efforts to address climate change.”
A New York Times article about the statement identified China and the EU as two of the world’s three most prolific “polluters.”
“They didn’t mention the United States by name, but they didn’t have to,” the Times added.
China and the EU agreed to “demonstrate leadership together to drive a global just transition in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication,” listing seven action-oriented examples of their planned cooperation.
The statement was issued on the day of the summit, which also marked the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Paris Agreement — a landmark, legally binding international treaty with a primary goal of keeping average temperatures “well below 2 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels.”
The agreement also established a framework for developed nations to “take the lead” on climate action, assisting developing nations and working together with a shared goal. In January, the United States pulled out of the Paris Agreement for a second time after withdrawing in 2017 and rejoining in 2021.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told Chinese President Xi Jinping that the two parties were at a turning point, per the BBC, pointing to tension resulting from increased interaction between China and the EU.
Should the U.S. be investing more in battery production to catch up with China?
“We have reached an inflection point. Rebalancing our bilateral relation is essential. Because to be sustainable, the relations need to be mutually beneficial,” she said.
At the summit’s conclusion, von der Leyen reiterated that the way in which China “continues to interact with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s war will be a determining factor [in their EU] relations going forward,” showing that the EU and China both walked away from the table with disagreements — ones they put aside to fight climate change.

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) -The United States told China at the United Nations on Friday it should “stop fueling Russia’s aggression” in Ukraine, as China accused Washington of trying to shift blame and spark confrontation.
Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.Jonah 1 : 17
Acting U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Dorothy Shea urged all countries, specifically naming China, to stop exports to Russia of dual-use goods that Washington says contribute to Russia’s war industrial base and enable its drone and missile attacks on Ukraine.
Lucifer had at first so conducted his temptations that he himself stood uncommitted. The angels whom he could not bring fully to his side, he accused of indifference to the interests of heavenly beings. The very work which he himself was doing, he charged upon the loyal angels. It was his policy to perplex with subtle arguments concerning the purposes of God. Everything that was simple he shrouded in mystery, and by artful perversion cast doubt upon the plainest statements of Jehovah. And his high position, so closely connected with the divine government, gave greater force to his representations. PP 41.3
“Beijing’s claim to have implemented strong export controls on dual-use goods falls apart in the face of daily recovery of Chinese-produced components in the drones, weapons, and vehicles that Russia uses against Ukraine,” Shea told a meeting of the 15-member U.N. Security Council on Ukraine.
China did not start the war in Ukraine, is not a party to the conflict, has never provided lethal weapons, and has always “strictly controlled dual-use materials, including the export of drones,” China’s deputy U.N. Ambassador Geng Shuang responded.
“We urge the U.S. to stop shifting blame on the Ukraine issue or creating confrontation and instead play a more constructive role in promoting ceasefire and peace talks,” he told the council.
There is a special work to be done for this time in America. Lucifer the fallen angel is arming all who will use his methods. Wake up, brethren, Satan leads the way. We must search the Scriptures and be diligent students of the Word of God, else we will follow in some strange path after a false standard. Our only safety is in following the Light of Life. “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.” [Verse 5.] Now let every one in these last days look unto Jesus Christ, and let our words to one another be words of genuine faith and love—words of love, of tenderness, and true brotherly kindness. “He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He (Christ) walked.” [Verse 6.] This is our duty, to give to our fellow church members and to the world a Christlike example in character. 17LtMs, Ms 237, 1902, par. 9
Reuters reported on Wednesday that Chinese-made engines are being covertly shipped via front companies to a state-owned drone manufacturer in Russia, labeled as “industrial refrigeration units” to avoid detection in the wake of Western sanctions.
“If China is sincere in calling for peace, it should stop fueling Russia’s aggression,” Shea said.
Saul endeavored to vindicate his own course, and blamed the prophet, instead of condemning himself. There are today many who pursue a similar course. Like Saul they are blinded to their errors. Deportation flights from the remote Everglades immigration lockup known as ” Alligator Alcatraz ″ have begun and are expected to increase soon, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday.
The first flights operated by the Department of Homeland Security have transferred about 100 detainees from the immigration detention center to other countries, DeSantis said during a news conference near the facility.
“You’re going to see the numbers go up dramatically,” he said.
Two or three flights have already departed, but officials didn’t say where those flights headed.
God had provided a way of escape for his servant in this hour of peril. A vigilant eye had followed Luther’s movements, and a true and noble heart had resolved upon his rescue. It was plain that Rome would be satisfied with nothing short of his death; only by concealment could he be preserved from the jaws of the lion. God gave wisdom to Frederick of Saxony to devise a plan for the reformer’s preservation. With the co-operation of true friends, the elector’s purpose was carried out, and Luther was effectually hidden from friends and foes. Upon his homeward journey, he was seized, separated from his attendants, and hurriedly conveyed through the forest to the castle of Wartburg, an isolated mountain fortress. Both his seizure and his concealment were so involved in mystery that even Frederick himself for a long time knew not whither he had been conducted. This ignorance was not without design; so long as the elector knew nothing of Luther’s whereabouts, he could reveal nothing. He satisfied himself that the reformer was safe, and with this knowledge he was content. GC88 168.1
Building the facility in the Everglades and naming it after a notorious federal prison were meant as deterrents, DeSantis and other officials have said.
The White House has delighted in the area’s remoteness — about 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of Miami — and the fact that it is teeming with pythons and alligators. It hopes to send a message that repercussions will be severe if U.S. immigration laws are broken.
Trump has suggested that his administration could reopen Alcatraz, the notorious island prison in San Francisco Bay. The White House also has sent some immigrants awaiting deportation to a detention lockup in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and others to a megaprison in El Salvador.
The Everglades facility was built in a matter of days over 10 square miles (26 square kilometers). It features more than 200 security cameras and more than 5 miles (8 kilometers) of barbed wire. An adjacent runway makes it more convenient for homeland security officials to move detainees in and out of the site.
It currently holds about 2,000 people, with the potential to double the capacity, Florida Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie said Friday.
DeSantis wants the U.S. Justice Department to allow an immigration judge on site to speed up the deportation process.

“This was never intended to be something where people are just held,” he said. “The whole purpose is to be a place that can facilitate increased frequency and numbers of deportations.”
Critics have challenged federal and state officials’ contention that the detention center is just run by the state of Florida. Environmental groups suing to stop further construction and expansion demanded Thursday to see agreements or communications between state and federal officials and to visit the site.

President Donald Trump’s order seeking to end birthright citizenship is unconstitutional, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.

In their sprawling 78-page ruling, the panel of judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit wrote they “fully agree” with the decision of a lower-court, which blocked the order nationwide.
Fourteenth Amendment’s grant of citizenship!
“We conclude that the Executive Order is invalid because it contradicts the plain language of the Fourteenth Amendment’s grant of citizenship to ‘all persons born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,’” the ruling stated.

If, in our land of boasted freedom, a Protestant government should sacrifice every principle which enters into its Constitution, and propagate papal falsehood and delusion, well may we plead, “It is time for thee, Lord, to work, for they have made void thy law.” Some may think that because it has been revealed in prophecy that our nation shall restrict the consciences of men, it must surely come; and that if we make an effort to preserve our liberty, we shall be acting the part of unfaithful servants, and thus come under the condemnation of God. The 9th Circuit ruling blocks the Trump administration from enforcing the order that would deny citizenship to children born to people who are in the U.S. illegally or temporarily.
President Donald Trump’s order seeking to end birthright citizenship is unconstitutional, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday (AP)
The judges wrote: “The district court correctly concluded that the Executive Order’s proposed interpretation, denying citizenship to many persons born in the United States, is unconstitutional. We fully agree.”
The Independent has reached out to the White House for comment on Wednesday’s ruling.
It comes after the push was also blocked by a federal judge in New Hampshire, and puts the issue – in which Trump seeks to unilaterally redefine who gets to be a citizen – one step closer to quickly coming back before the Supreme Court.
New Hampshire District Judge Joseph Laplante agreed to grant class-action status to all babies who stood to lose automatic U.S. citizenship when Trump’s order took effect, saying that his decision was “not a close call.”
LaPlante noted that thousands of children would be deprived of their citizenship should Trump’s order go into effect. “That’s irreparable harm, citizenship alone,” he said. “It is the greatest privilege that exists in the world.”
Several other courts have already struck down the president’s attempt to block citizenship from newborn Americans who are born to certain immigrant parents.
But last month the Supreme Court determined those judges went too far by issuing nationwide injunctions instead of applying the rulings to only the states and plaintiffs who sued the administration.

“The country was maybe tilting toward China for a period of time, but we un-tilted it very, very quickly,” Trump said. Trump added: “I don’t mind if he gets along with China because we’re getting along with China very well.”
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he may visit China soon for a landmark trip to address simmering trade and security tensions between the superpower rivals.
It is no time now for God’s people to be fixing their affections or laying up their treasure in the world. The time is not far distant, when, like the early disciples, we shall be forced to seek a refuge in desolate and solitary places. As the siege of Jerusalem by the Roman armies was the signal for flight to the Judean Christians, so the assumption of power on the part of our nation in the decree enforcing the papal sabbath will be a warning to us. It will then be time to leave the large cities, preparatory to leaving the smaller ones for retired homes in secluded places among the mountains. 5T 464.3

“President Xi has invited me to China, and we’ll probably be doing that in the not-too-distant future,” Trump told reporters in the White House’s Oval Office. “A little bit out, but not too distant. And I’ve been invited by a lot of people, and we’ll make those decisions pretty soon.”

The time is not far distant, when the test will come to every soul…. In this time, the gold will be separated from the dross in the church. True godliness will be clearly distinguished from the appearance and tinsel of it. Many a star that we have admired for its brilliancy, will then go out in darkness. Chaff like a cloud will be borne away on the wind, even from places where we see only floors of rich wheat. All who assume the ornaments of the sanctuary, but are not clothed with Christ’s righteousness, will appear in the shame of their own nakedness.—Testimonies for the Church 5:80, 81. ChS 49.3
Trump and Xi’s aides have discussed a potential meeting between the leaders during a trip by the U.S. president to Asia later this year, Reuters has reported, citing two people familiar with the plans.
While plans for a meeting have not been finalized, discussions on both sides of the Pacific have included a possible Trump stopover around the time of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea or talks on the sidelines of the October 30-November 1 event, the people said.

A time is coming when the law of God is, in a special sense, to be made void in our land. The rulers of our nation will, by legislative enactments, enforce the Sunday law, and thus God’s people be brought into great peril. When our nation, in its legislative councils, shall enact laws to bind the consciences of men in regard to their religious privileges, enforcing Sunday observance, and bringing oppressive power to bear against those who keep the seventh-day Sabbath, the law of God will, to all intents and purposes, be made void in our land; and national apostasy will be followed by national ruin. We see that those who are now keeping the commandments of God need to bestir themselves, that they may obtain the special help which God alone can give them. They should work more earnestly to delay as long as possible the threatened calamity. The U.S. and the Philippines have a seven-decade-old collective defense treaty, potentially implicating Washington in a clash between China and the Philippines.
Washington sees Beijing as its key strategic rival globally. Upon taking office, Trump launched a tit-for-tat tariff war with China that has upended global trade and supply chains.
Other points of friction between the countries include China’s support for Russia, the illicit opioid trade, China’s growing pressure on Taiwan and exit bans on some American residents.
In recent weeks, Trump has sought to lower tensions, describing his personal relations with Xi as healthy.
Trump has sought to impose tariffs on virtually all foreign goods, including both China and U.S. allies in Asia like the Philippines. He says this will stimulate domestic manufacturing, but critics say many consumer goods will become more expensive for Americans.
The president has called for a universal base tariff rate of 10% on goods imported from all countries, with higher rates for some. Imports from China have the highest tariff rate of 55%.
Trump has set a deadline of August 12 for the U.S. and China to reach a durable tariff agreement.

You may say Sister White is stirred. I am stirred with deep sorrow for you. Well might Joshua challenge you, “Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?” Joshua 5:13. Truth will triumph. (Reuters) -The Syrian defence ministry said on Tuesday it was aware of reports of “shocking violations” by people wearing military fatigues in the country’s predominantly Druze city of Sweida, and said it would launch an investigation.
Protestants have tampered with and patronized popery; they have made compromises and concessions which papists themselves are surprised to see and fail to understand. Men are closing their eyes to the real character of Romanism and the dangers to be apprehended from her supremacy. The people need to be aroused to resist the advances of this most dangerous foe to civil and religious liberty. GC 566.1
Ferocious fighting then broke out between Druze militia and government forces!
Sectarian clashes have escalated in Sweida this month between the Druze – a religious minority native to the area – and Syrian Bedouin tribes. Ferocious fighting then broke out between Druze militia and government forces sent to the city to quell the unrest.
In the great controversy there is a right side and a wrong side, and we individually stand under the banner that represents the opposing forces. Whose side are we on? There is a vast army standing under the black banner of the prince of darkness, and there is another army standing under the blood-stained banner of the Prince of life. How shall we discern between the soldiers of Christ and the soldiers of the enemy? “By their fruits ye shall know them.” [Matthew 7:20.] 12LtMs, Ms 193, 1897, par. 8
The fighting left over 300 people dead and drew in neighbouring Israel, which carried out airstrikes in southern Syria and on the defence ministry in Damascus last week. Israel said it was protecting the Druze, who form a significant minority in Israel.
On Friday, Israel and Syria agreed to a ceasefire supported by Turkey, Jordan and neighbours.
There is a constant conflict between the two great armies led by the Prince of life and the Prince of the powers of darkness.
Syria’s Defence Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra said in a statement there would be “no tolerance” for perpetrators of human rights violations in Sweida, even if they were committed by ministry forces. A committee has been formed to investigate reports of killings by people wearing military fatigues and to try to identify them, he said.
Separately, the Syrian interior ministry said it had launched an investigation into reports of field executions committed by “unknown people” in Sweida.
There is a constant conflict between the two great armies led by the Prince of life and the Prince of the powers of darkness. The devil, assisted by his angels, is constantly engaged in the most determined effort to gather souls under his banner, while Jesus Christ and holy angels are diligently at work pressing back the powers of darkness, rescuing souls from the grasp of Satan, and gathering them under the blood-stained banner of Prince Immanuel. Those who are truly soldiers of the cross of Christ will not be indifferent spectators, but will take an active part and manifest a personal interest in this conflict. They will “know the fellowship of his sufferings,” being co-laborers with Jesus Christ in disseminating light and truth to redeem the purchase of his blood from the slavery of sin and death. RH December 12, 1878, Art. A, par. 2
“Such acts constitute serious crimes,” ministry spokesperson Nour al-Din Al-Baba said, stressing that the ministry was also working on identifying those involved.
A Syrian fact-finding committee said separately on Tuesday that 1,426 people had died in March in attacks on security forces and subsequent mass killings of Alawites, but concluded that commanders had not given orders for the revenge attacks.
Half-and-half service places the human agent on the side of the enemy as a successful ally of the hosts of darkness. When men who claim to be soldiers of Christ engage with the confederacy of Satan, and help along his side, they prove themselves enemies of Christ. They betray sacred trusts. They form a link between Satan and the true soldiers, so that through these agencies the enemy is constantly working to steal away the hearts of Christ’s soldiers. MB 94.1
The incidents in the coastal region were the worst violence to hit Syria since the downfall of President Bashar al-Assad last year. The new leadership is made up mainly of former anti-Assad rebel fighters, who are facing fresh unrest this month involving other minority groups in the southwest.
Those who are working for God should put away all unkind criticism, and draw together in unity. They need to study the Lord’s teaching in regard to this. Christ desires His soldiers to stand shoulder to shoulder, united in the work of fighting the battles of the cross. He desires the union between those who work for Him to be as close as the union between Him and His Father. Those who have felt the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit will heed the lessons of the divine Instructor, and will show their sincerity by doing all in their power to work in harmony with their brethren….
