Multiple deaths have been reported in Texas after heavy rain caused flash flooding of a river, while search teams used boats to conduct rescues Friday as fast-moving water threatened riverfront communities near wildlife habitats and campgrounds.

As much as 10 inches (25 centimeters) of heavy rain fell in just a few hours overnight in central Kerr County, causing flash flooding of the Guadalupe River. The Kerr County sheriff’s office confirmed fatalities but did not provide additional details.

A flood watch issued Thursday afternoon estimated isolated amounts up to seven inches. That shifted to a flood warning for at least 30,000 people overnight.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the state was providing resources to Hill Country communities dealing with the flooding, including Kerrville, Ingram and Hunt.
“I urge Texans to heed guidance from state and local officials and monitor local forecasts to avoid driving into flooded areas,” Abbott said in a statement.

The Guadalupe’s river gauge at the unincorporated community of Hunt, where the river forks, recorded a 22 foot rise (6.7 meters) in just about two hours, according to Bob Fogarty, meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Austin/San Antonio office. Fogarty said the gauge failed after recording a level of 29 and a half feet (9 meters).
“We think the river’s higher than that,” Fogarty said. “The gauge is completely underwater.”
The riverfront communities include several camps, wildlife habitats and campgrounds. Texas Game Wardens, part of the state parks and wildlife agency, said on Facebook that search and rescue teams are conducting rescues throughout the region and sending more boats to help.
“This is the kind of thing that will catch you unaware,” Fogarty said. “The water’s moving so fast, you’re not going to recognize how bad it is until it’s on top of you.”

Meanwhile, strong thunderstorms were being blamed for at least three deaths in central New Jersey, including two men in Plainfield who died after a tree fell onto a vehicle they were traveling in during the height of a storm there, according to a city Facebook post.
The men were ages 79 and 25, officials said. They were not immediately publicly identified.

Vladimir Putin appears to have shifted his war aims to once again include conquering all of Ukraine as his forces accelerate gains on the front lines.

The Russian president announced that “all of Ukraine is ours” last week as the world’s attention was drawn to the conflict in the Middle East and Iran’s nuclear programme.
The truth is to be the food given to the souls ready to perish. Call the attention of the people to the signs of the times. There are wars and rumors of wars. Nation is rising against nation. Selfishness and covetousness lead to violence, crime, and all kinds of wickedness. Nation is watching nation, to see if there is not some advantage to be gained. There is much of selfishness revealed. Self-esteem and self-exaltation are prevailing evils, and because of this there is manifest a spirit of criticism, where no such thing should exist. And some who realize the responsibilities resting upon them, and who would go forth with the message of warning, are prevented by the forbiddings of those who feel that it is their prerogative to control the actions of their fellow workers. Thus Satan is working to close the lips of some to whom God has given His message to the world; and if possible he will continue his working until souls who are convinced of the truth for this time, seeing the inconsistencies of those who profess to believe it, turn away and are lost. 22LtMs, Ms 117, 1907, par. 15
Meanwhile, peace talks have further stalled, with Putin saying they are “nowhere close” to success after efforts by Donald Trump fizzled out.
On Monday, Putin’s forces said that they had taken the final sliver of Luhansk after controlling about 99 per cent of the region for several years.
If state media claims are accurate, Russian forces have also seized their first village in the Dnipropetrovsk region – a territory Ukraine has never previously had to defend from invading ground troops. Tens of thousands of troops are also massing around Sumy and Kharkiv, two northern regions not included in the 2022 annexation.
But Putin’s ambitions now appear to go far beyond Luhansk and the three other regions he illegally annexed in September 2022.

The intensification of operations across Ukraine comes as US-led efforts to broker peace between Moscow and Kyiv appear to have stalled.
The satanic agencies are a living, persevering power, at work to bar the way so that the kingdom of Christ may not come and the will of God be done in the earth. Nearly Three Years to Claim Full Control!
Russia’s decision to annexe Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in 2022 was, in part, a recalibration after it failed to take Kyiv. By narrowing its goals to eastern Ukraine, Moscow hoped to present a more realistic path to victory.
Yet it has taken nearly three years to claim full control of Luhansk – if that claim proves true – despite starting the war with a large portion of the region already occupied.
“Which of you convicteth [Revised Version] Me of sin? The shift back to a wider campaign!
Now, the shift back to a wider campaign is unmistakable. Renewed offensives around Kharkiv and Sumy, both targeted unsuccessfully in the early months of the war, point to a new escalation.
Angelica Evans, a Russia analyst at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), said Putin’s revised ambitions began resurfacing when he visited Kursk in May and ordered the creation of a “buffer zone” along the Ukrainian border.

Putin’s apparent shift in strategy may also explain the recent uptick in strikes on civilian areas. In Kyiv, 18 people were killed in a missile strike on an apartment block, while 17 died while travelling on a civilian train in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The reported seizure of Dachne in Dnipropetrovsk, if confirmed, would be especially troubling for Volodymyr Zelensky. In more than a decade of conflict with Kremlin-backed separatists and Russian troops, Ukraine has never had to fight in this region.
One Ukrainian military source previously warned that the flat terrain and sparse settlements could allow for a swift Russian advance. It would also come at a time when Russia is advancing at its fastest pace since November.

The Russian army took 588 sq km (227 sq miles) of Ukrainian territory in June, compared with 507 sq km in May, 379 sq km in April, and 240 sq km in March, according to ISW data. While gains have increased, it would still take 70 years for Russia to take the whole country if advances continued at the same rate.

The desire to seize more territory beyond the annexed regions may not come as a surprise to Ukrainian negotiators.
During peace talks in Istanbul in May, Russian officials reportedly warned Ukraine that Moscow could sustain its war effort for another 21 years.

Some US officials also appear to recognise that Russia has little interest in ending the conflict.

We should bring before them the real question at issue, thus interposing the most effectual protest against measures to restrict liberty of conscience. We should search the Scriptures, and be able to give the reason for our faith. The comments echo what Trump said in April when speaking of deportations to El Salvador.

Ben-Ghiat, the author of “Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present,” responded on X about Trump’s comments:

Trump’s latest comments came after NPR reported that the Justice Department was “aggressively prioritizing” efforts to revoke the status of naturalized citizens who commit certain crimes.

However, Trump also indicated that category could be far broader, at least with naturalized U.S. citizens such as former ally Elon Musk. After his latest falling out with Musk, Trump said he said he would “take a look” at deporting the tech billionaire.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday confirmed that they had “eliminated” one of the founders of Hamas in a joint operation with the Israel Security Agency (ISA).
Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa, a senior figure in Hamas’ military wing, was killed in Gaza City in an airstrike in the Sabra on Friday, the IDF said.
Issa’s current role in the Hamas military wing was as head of combat support headquarters, and he led force-buildup efforts in the Gaza Strip, served as head of the training headquarters and was a member of Hamas’ General Security Council.

The news comes on the heels of Israel’s conflict with Iran during which the IDF killed multiple military leaders, including Saeed Izadi, an Iranian commander who for years helped arm and fund Hamas on behalf of the regime.
Izadi was also “one of the orchestrators” of the Oct. 7 attack, the IDF said.
Leon Panetta, the former director of the CIA during Barack Obama’s first term, has warned that President Donald Trump’s decision to bomb Iran – and the intelligence disputes surrounding it – only serve to emphasize “how dangerous a world we live in right now.”
Panetta, 86, who also served as Bill Clinton’s chief of staff and currently co-hosts the foreign policy podcast One Decision, told The i Paper: “I don’t think there’s any alternative but to understand how dangerous a world we live in right now.
“Not only because of the adversaries that are out there – whether it’s China, or Russia, or North Korea, or Iran, or terrorism – but also because of the concerns about leadership, and whether or not the U.S. will exercise the right kind of leadership in a dangerous world.”

After Israel launched air strikes against Iran on Friday June 13 as part of its Operation Rising Lion offensive, intended to stop Tehran developing a nuclear weapon, Trump initially kept his distance before dropping bunker-busting bombs on three Iranian uranium enrichment sites over the weekend.

Trump was taking questions during the unveiling of new flag poles outside the White House when CNN White House correspondent Alayna Treene asked him about the split in MAGA ranks over his increasingly hawkish backing of Israel in its war with Iran.
Treene began by noting, “Mr. President, some of your supporters are splitting on the U.S. response to…,” before Trump cut in and deployed his usual tactic of demanding to know, “Who are you with?”

Let the principle once be established in the United States that the church may employ or control the power of the state; that religious observances may be enforced by secular laws; in short, that the authority of church and state is to dominate the conscience, and the triumph of Rome in this country is assured. God’s word has given warning of the impending danger; let this be unheeded, and the Protestant world will learn what the purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever shall believe and obey the word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution. GC 580.3 – GC 581.2

As this struggle progresses, it may appear to human sight that Satan is triumphant and that truth is overborne with falsehood and error. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had been expected to meet their Japanese counterparts in Washington on July 1 for annual 2+2 security talks.
But Tokyo scrapped the meeting after the U.S. side asked Japan to boost defense spending to 3.5 per cent of GDP, higher than an earlier request of 3 per cent, the paper cited unnamed sources familiar with the matter, including two officials in Tokyo, as saying.
A U.S. official who did not want to be identified confirmed Japan had “postponed” the talks but said the decision was made several weeks ago. The source did not cite a reason. A non-government source familiar with the issue said he had also heard Japan had pulled out of the meeting, but not the reason for it doing so.

When the Sabbath shall become the special point of controversy throughout Christendom, the persistent refusal of a small minority to yield to the popular demand will make them objects of universal execration. Satan will excite indignation against the humble remnant who conscientiously refuse to accept the customs and traditions of error. Blinded by the prince of darkness, popular religionists will see only as he sees, and feel as he feels. They will determine as he determines, and oppress as he has oppressed.
