Donald Trump on Tuesday told Congress Elon Musk had rooted out “hundred of billions of dollars” worth of government waste thanks to Doge.

Reeling off a long list of examples of apparent misspending, Mr Trump said that $45 million had been spent on diversity, equity, and inclusion scholarships in Burma, $20 million on the Arab version of Sesame Street – and “$8 million for making mice transgender”.

“This is real,” he said.

Left-wing media outlets were quick to dismiss the claims as misinformation. After the White House released a statement branding CNN “fake news losers”, the outlet issued a correction to its fact check of Mr Trump’s speech, stating that “an earlier version of this item incorrectly characterised as false Trump’s claim”.

The president was referring to an investigation by the White Coat Waste Project, a non-profit campaigning to stop animal testing, which investigates taxpayer-funded experiments on the effects of gender-affirming drugs in rodents.

Justin Goodman, senior vice-president for the lobbying group, claimed it has documented “over $250 million spent on transgender animal experiments over the last couple of decades”.

He added that “there are over two dozen active federal grants funding transgender animal experiments, worth a total of $64 million”.

These include a National Institute of Health (NIH) funded project at Duke University that allegedly received $455,000 to study how HIV vaccines work in male mice subjected to female hormones – to imitate human gender transitions.

In another experiment, scientists at the University of Michigan allegedly spent $2,588,000 of an NIH grant investigating the effects of hormone treatment in mice to imitate gender transition.

A further experiment at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre allegedly spent $300,000 investigating breast cancer risk for transgender people by looking at tumours in mice.

A study at Emory University funded by NIH also allegedly spent $735,000 evaluating the contribution of the gut microbiome towards gender affirming hormone therapy in mice.

A researcher at Emory said: “We study the effects of the hormone treatment used by transgender people on skeletal development. We want to know if these hormones impair skeletal growth and increase the probability of osteoporosis later in life.”

During his first term, Mr Trump moved to restrict animal testing, with the Environmental Protection Agency announcing plans to end the practice by 2035.

However, the agency reportedly abandoned its plans last year amid concerns that testing chemicals on animals remains the safest means of reducing harm to humans.

Mr Goodman said: “We’re absolutely thrilled and honoured that the president highlighted our investigation during the state of the union and helped us expose wasteful government spending that’s torturing animals in grotesque experiments.

“I think that these experiments are a great example of DEI programmes run amok, where programmes that claim to be intended to help marginalised people are being exploited to torture animals in sick experiments that only benefit the mad scientists conducting them.

In a statement on its website, CNN said its story had been updated with context about the spending, “which was for research studies on the potential human health impacts of treatments used in gender-affirming care”.

Some scientists have raised concerns that Mr Trump’s comments have misled the public into believing that the studies on mice are only for modelling transgender hormone replacement.

One scientist said that experiments on mice have improved our understanding of the impact of sex hormones on a whole range of conditions.

They pointed to raloxifene, a medication used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, which they said would not have been available without years of studying the effects of hormones on rodents.

The dense darkness in which, through the long ages of her rule, popery had enveloped all Christendom, had not even yet been wholly dissipated. Said one of the leading ministers in the colony of Massachusetts Bay: “It was toleration that made the world antichristian; and the church never took harm by the punishment of heretics.”—Ibid., vol. 5, p. 335. The regulation was adopted by the colonists that only church members should have a voice in the civil government. A kind of state church was formed, all the people being required to contribute to the support of the clergy, and the magistrates being authorized to suppress heresy. Thus the secular power was in the hands of the church. It was not long before these measures led to the inevitable result—persecution. GC 292.3

Three centuries later, the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, echoed a similar message. Lin notes the connection between Reagan’s speech and Revelation 21, which describes the city of God. Reagan called America a “shining city on a hill,” portraying it as a beacon of hope and reflecting themes from traditional Puritan beliefs and 20th-century American Evangelicals.

In other words, Reagan’s imagination reflects a prolonged expectation of the American religious elite on America as a New Jerusalem. However, the New Jerusalem has its own secular criteria.

When the holy city is not for everyone

Race is a crucial element. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Chinese workers were categorized as the outsiders of the New Jerusalem. American elites likened Chinese symbols to demonic images. For instance, they perceived the dragon on the flag of the Qing Dynasty as the Satanic dragon in the Book of Revelation.

American writer Pierton W. Dooner, in his 1880 book “Last Days of the Republic,” depicts the Chinese as the demonic “Asiatic serpent”. This anti-Chinese rhetoric contributed to immigration restrictions, with U.S. Senators labeling China as “the apocalyptic whore and the enemies of God’s kingdom.”

What’s more, the ruling political class also used the description from the Book of Revelation to set up the standard of “cleanliness,” which means the exception of biological threats. Revelation 22 writes “who wash their robes […] may enter the city by the gates.” Some American nativists interpreted the text to set barriers for people with diseases and even unethical behaviors.

To control immigration, American lawmakers created a system akin to Revelation’s Book of Life, called, “The Book of White Life.” According to Lin, this book records who is considered “white enough to have citizenship” in the New Jerusalem of America. Congress developed a “Book of Deeds” to further specify “The Book of White Life,” outlining the actions required to enter the United States.

We can see a scripture-based selective process to exclude those unwanted. Eventually, this thinking shapes the extreme state policy adopted by the current most powerful figure: Trump, who won election for a second time this past November.

From prejudice to policy

Many modern American politicians favored a passage from Revelation 21. This passage vividly describes a holy city with ” a great, high wall with 12 gates” and “12 foundations.” These politicians often invoke the imagery of the New Jerusalem, with its walls and gates, to convince the public to support anti-immigration policy.

Many American political figures believe that America is a land blessed by God and that constructing a wall to restrict immigration aligns with divine will. An Iowa congressman posted on social media: “Heaven has a wall, a gate and a strict immigration policy. Hell has open borders.”

But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

The post pales in comparison to the speech given by Trump in recent years. Lin points out that Trump often discusses the specific measurements of the wall, including its height and length. However, she argues that the real issue is not the size; rather, it deeply revolves around Trump’s self-image as the person who would rebuild America, envisioning it as a New Jerusalem, complete with walls and gates.

Furthermore, the narrative of America also represents a gateway of meritocracy, as described in Revelation, that draws in those who could “enrich the New Jerusalem.” No surprise that Trump’s slogan is “Make America Great Again.”

While appearing to the children of men as a great physician who can heal all their maladies, he will bring disease and disaster, until populous cities are reduced to ruin and desolation. Even now he is at work. Torrential rain continued on Tuesday in Beijing, as storm Doksuri dumped the average rainfall for the entire month of July on the city within 40 hours.

Chinese President Xi Jinping called for “every effort” to rescue people lost or trapped, and for authorities to restore conditions back to normal as soon as possible.

In the neighboring Hebei province, precipitation from Saturday to Monday at one local weather station was more than what is usually measured in over six months, with rainfall amounting to 1,003 mm (39.4 inches).

Rivers and streams in the capital and surrounding region have swollen to dangerous levels. The rising water has forced authorities to use a flood control reservoir for the first time since it was built over two decades ago.

Authorities in Beijing have sealed off over 100 mountain roads and evacuated 52,000 people from their homes in Beijing. Many train and subway stations are closed

The Chinese government deployed four military helicopters with 26 personnel on Tuesday to deliver supplies to stranded train passengers in Beijing, according to state media.

Local media reported chaotic scenes of high-speed trains stranded for as long as 30 hours without access to food or drinking water.

Another typhoon approaches China

Beijing’s local government said the rainfall over the last four days was more than what was recorded during a severe storm in 2012 that killed 79 people.

According to state media, thunderstorms and rainfall are forecast in Beijing and neighboring Tianjin and Hebei through Tuesday.

Meanwhile, China is preparing for another typhoon named Khanun, which is expected to make landfall later in the week on China’s east coast after crossing over southern Japan. Khanun is set to be China’s sixth tropical storm so far this year.

Doksuri, formerly a super Typhoon, is one of the strongest storms to hit modern day China. It made landfall on Friday in Fujian province, where it destroyed some 18,000 houses and forced 562,000 people to evacuate.

Before that, the deadly storm caused devastation in the Philippines and Taiwan.

The Burbank Police Department responded to a call of a bear in a swimming pool Friday. When they arrived, they found the unbothered mammal chilling in the pool and lazily surveying the city’s beautiful hillside.

“This bear is beating the heat in Burbank,” officers said in a Facebook post, along with a short clip of the furry intruder. The department did not say what type of bear it was.

In the comical video, authorities captured the wild animal sitting in the small in-ground pool as it seemingly posed for the officers by grazing one paw on the side of the pool deck.

“I don’t blame him,” an officer is heard in the video say, commenting on the heat wave that has scorched much of the U.S. bringing triple digit temperatures and an increased risk of wildfires in California.

Others chimed in on the department’s social media post, saying that they don’t blame the bear for taking a dip.

These records of the past clearly reveal the enmity of Rome toward the true Sabbath and its defenders, and the means which she employs to honor the institution of her creating. The word of God teaches that these scenes are to be repeated as Roman Catholics and Protestants shall unite for the exaltation of the Sunday.
The prophecy of Revelation 13 declares that the power represented by the beast with lamblike horns shall cause “the earth and them which dwell therein” to worship the papacy—there symbolized by the beast “like unto a leopard.” The beast with two horns is also to say “to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast;” and, furthermore, it is to command all, “both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,” to receive the mark of the beast. Revelation 13:11-16. It has been shown that the United States is the power represented by the beast with lamblike horns, and that this prophecy will be fulfilled when the United States shall enforce Sunday observance, which Rome claims as the special acknowledgment of her supremacy. But in this homage to the papacy the United States will not be alone. The influence of Rome in the countries that once acknowledged her dominion is still far from being destroyed. And prophecy foretells a restoration of her power. “I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” Verse 3. The infliction of the deadly wound points to the downfall of the papacy in 1798. After this, says the prophet, “his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” Paul states plainly that the “man of sin” will continue until the second advent. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-8. To the very close of time he will carry forward the work of deception. And the revelator declares, also referring to the papacy: “All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life.” Revelation 13:8. In both the Old and the New World, the papacy will receive homage in the honor paid to the Sunday institution, that rests solely upon the authority of the Roman Church.
Since the middle of the nineteenth century, students of prophecy in the United States have presented this testimony to the world. In the events now taking place is seen a rapid advance toward the fulfillment of the prediction. With Protestant teachers there is the same claim of divine authority for Sundaykeeping, and the same lack of Scriptural evidence, as with the papal leaders who fabricated miracles to supply the place of a command from God. The assertion that God’s judgments are visited upon men for their violation of the Sunday-sabbath, will be repeated; already it is beginning to be urged. And a movement to enforce Sunday observance is fast gaining ground.
Marvelous in her shrewdness and cunning is the Roman Church. She can read what is to be. She bides her time, seeing that the Protestant churches are paying her homage in their acceptance of the false sabbath and that they are preparing to enforce it by the very means which she herself employed in bygone days. Those who reject the light of truth will yet seek the aid of this self-styled infallible power to exalt an institution that originated with her. How readily she will come to the help of Protestants in this work it is not difficult to conjecture. Who understands better than the papal leaders how to deal with those who are disobedient to the church?
The Roman Catholic Church, with all its ramifications throughout the world, forms one vast organization under the control, and designed to serve the interests, of the papal see. Its millions of communicants, in every country on the globe, are instructed to hold themselves as bound in allegiance to the pope. Whatever their nationality or their government, they are to regard the authority of the church as above all other. Though they may take the oath pledging their loyalty to the state, yet back of this lies the vow of obedience to Rome, absolving them from every pledge inimical to her interests.
History testifies of her artful and persistent efforts to insinuate herself into the affairs of nations; and having gained a foothold, to further her own aims, even at the ruin of princes and people. In the year 1204, Pope Innocent III extracted from Peter II, king of Arragon, the following extraordinary oath: “I, Peter, king of Arragonians, profess and promise to be ever faithful and obedient to my lord, Pope Innocent, to his Catholic successors, and the Roman Church, and faithfully to preserve my kingdom in his obedience, defending the Catholic faith, and persecuting heretical pravity.”—John Dowling, The History of Romanism, b. 5, ch. 6, sec. 55. This is in harmony with the claims regarding the power of the Roman pontiff “that it is lawful for him to depose emperors” and “that he can absolve subjects from their allegiance to unrighteous rulers.”—Mosheim, b. 3, cent. 11, pt. 2, ch. 2, sec. 9, note 17. And let it be remembered, it is the boast of Rome that she never changes. The principles of Gregory VII and Innocent III are still the principles of the Roman Catholic Church. And had she but the power, she would put them in practice with as much vigor now as in past centuries. Protestants little know what they are doing when they propose to accept the aid of Rome in the work of Sunday exaltation. While they are bent upon the accomplishment of their purpose, Rome is aiming to re-establish her power, to recover her lost supremacy. Let the principle once be established in the United States that the church may employ or control the power of the state; that religious observances may be enforced by secular laws; in short, that the authority of church and state is to dominate the conscience, and the triumph of Rome in this country is assured.

The doctrine of man’s consciousness in death, especially the belief that spirits of the dead return to minister to the living, has prepared the way for modern spiritualism. If the dead are admitted to the presence of God and holy angels, and privileged with knowledge far exceeding what they before possessed, why should they not return to the earth to enlighten and instruct the living? If, as taught by popular theologians, spirits of the dead are hovering about their friends on earth, why should they not be permitted to communicate with them, to warn them against evil, or to comfort them in sorrow? How can those who believe in man’s consciousness in death reject what comes to them as divine light communicated by glorified spirits? Here is a channel regarded as sacred, through which Satan works for the accomplishment of his purposes. The fallen angels who do his bidding appear as messengers from the spirit world. While professing to bring the living into communication with the dead, the prince of evil exercises his bewitching influence upon their minds.
He has power to bring before men the appearance of their departed friends. The counterfeit is perfect; the familiar look, the words, the tone, are reproduced with marvelous distinctness. Many are comforted with the assurance that their loved ones are enjoying the bliss of heaven, and without suspicion of danger, they give ear “to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” GC 551.2 – GC 552.1

When the Sabbath becomes the special point of controversy throughout Christendom, the persistent refusal of a small minority to yield to the popular demand will make them objects of universal execration. It will be urged that the few who stand in opposition to an institution of the church and a law of the state, ought not to be tolerated; that it is better for them to suffer than for whole nations to be thrown into confusion and lawlessness. This argument will appear conclusive; and against those who hallow the Sabbath of the fourth commandment will finally be issued a decree, denouncing them as deserving of the severest punishment, and giving the people liberty, after a certain time, to put them to death. Romanism in the Old World, and apostate Protestantism in the New, will pursue a similar course toward those who honor all the divine precepts.
The season of distress and anguish before us will require a faith that can endure weariness, delay, and hunger,—a faith that will not faint, though severely tried. Those who now exercise but little faith are in the greatest danger of falling under the power of satanic delusions and the decree to compel conscience. And even if they endure the test, they will be plunged into deeper distress and anguish in the time of trouble, because they have not made it a habit to trust in God. A Surfside Beach-based chair and umbrella rental firm will pay the estate of a woman impaled by one of their products last summer an undisclosed sum as a settlement for her death.

Horry County court records show Beach Services Limited came to terms with relatives of 63-year-old Tammy Perreault on July 18, but 15th Circuit Judge William J. Seals Jr. approved a motion by attorneys from both sides to keep details of the payout private.

These words offended the Pharisees. Every soul that refuses to give himself to God is under the control of another power. He is not his own. He may talk of freedom, but he is in the most abject slavery. He is not allowed to see the beauty of truth, for his mind is under the control of Satan. While he flatters himself that he is following the dictates of his own judgment, he obeys the will of the prince of darkness. Christ came to break the shackles of sin-slavery from the soul. “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” “The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” sets us “free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2.

In the work of redemption there is no compulsion. No external force is employed. Under the influence of the Spirit of God, man is left free to choose whom he will serve. In the change that takes place when the soul surrenders to Christ, there is the highest sense of freedom. The expulsion of sin is the act of the soul itself. True, we have no power to free ourselves from Satan’s control; but when we desire to be set free from sin, and in our great need cry out for a power out of and above ourselves, the powers of the soul are imbued with the divine energy of the Holy Spirit, and they obey the dictates of the will in fulfilling the will of God.

The only condition upon which the freedom of man is possible is that of becoming one with Christ. “The truth shall make you free;” and Christ is the truth. Sin can triumph only by enfeebling the mind, and destroying the liberty of the soul. Subjection to God is restoration to one’s self,—to the true glory and dignity of man. The divine law, to which we are brought into subjection, is “the law of liberty.” James 2:12.
The Pharisees had declared themselves the children of Abraham. Jesus told them that this claim could be established only by doing the works of Abraham. The true children of Abraham would live, as he did, a life of obedience to God. They would not try to kill One who was speaking the truth that was given Him from God. In plotting against Christ, the rabbis were not doing the works of Abraham. A mere lineal descent from Abraham was of no value. Without a spiritual connection with him, which would be manifested in possessing the same spirit, and doing the same works, they were not his children.

This principle bears with equal weight upon a question that has long agitated the Christian world,—the question of apostolic succession. Descent from Abraham was proved, not by name and lineage, but by likeness of character. So the apostolic succession rests not upon the transmission of ecclesiastical authority, but upon spiritual relationship. A life actuated by the apostles’ spirit, the belief and teaching of the truth they taught, this is the true evidence of apostolic succession. This is what constitutes men the successors of the first teachers of the gospel.

Jesus denied that the Jews were children of Abraham. He said, “Ye do the deeds of your father.” In mockery they answered, ” We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.” These words, in allusion to the circumstances of His birth, were intended as a thrust against Christ in the presence of those who were beginning to believe on Him. Jesus gave no heed to the base insinuation, but said, “If God were your Father, ye would love Me: for I proceeded forth and came from God.”

Their works testified of their relationship to him who was a liar and a murderer. “Ye are of your father the devil,” said Jesus, “and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stood not in the truth, because there is no truth in him…. Because I say the truth, ye believe Me not.” John 8:44, 45, R. V. The fact that Jesus spoke the truth, and that with certainty, was why He was not received by the Jewish leaders. It was the truth that offended these self-righteous men. The truth exposed the fallacy of error; it condemned their teaching and practice, and it was unwelcome. They would rather close their eyes to the truth than humble themselves to confess that they had been in error. They did not love the truth. They did not desire it, even though it was truth. “Given the media coverage this incident has already received, the Court finds it is likely that the media would report on the settlement if made part of the public record, which in turn, would prejudice the legitimate private interests of the parties, and inadvertently, negatively impact local businesses that have no connection to the allegations in this these claims against Respondents,” Seals wrote in his decision.

Perreault’s Aug. 11, 2022, death came as the result of chest trauma she sustained after an umbrella blown from its anchor on a Garden City beach struck her.

The story made international headlines and happened two months after Myrtle Beach-based Lack’s Beach Service was hit with a $20.7 million wrongful death verdict stemming from the 2018 drowning of a Maryland man.

In exchange, the company has exclusive rights to rent beach equipment to users in the area.

Lawyers for Beach Services Limited and the Perreault estate said publicizing terms of the settlement would also have negative consequences for other businesses that offer similar products.

“…The publication of the settlement amount could result in the public believing that Respondents are acknowledging safety deficiencies at the Beach (which has been and continues to be denied by Respondents),” the July 18 motion to seal says. “Any negative perception of the Respondents’ business would have a negative impact on other businesses who rent and use beach umbrellas on the Beach, which in turn, would negatively impact those businesses surrounding the Beach, many of which are ‘mom and pop’ stores (as opposed to national chains), that have nothing to do with these claims against Respondents.”

Ian Maguire, an attorney representing Perreault’s husband Michael, said in a statement to The Sun News that his client will continue working to ensure future umbrella accidents can be avoided.

“Mike Perreault and Beach Services Inc. have agreed to settle the pending lawsuit. Mike is continuing to work to ensure that this tragedy never happens to another beachgoer,” Maguire said. “Therefore, it is imperative that unweighted and spear-like umbrellas are no longer manufactured, sold and distributed to our beach communities.”

The S.C. judicial branch requires seven guidelines to be met before documents can be filed under seal. They are:

the need to ensure a fair trial
the need for witness cooperation
the reliance of the parties upon expectations of confidentiality
the public or professional significance of the lawsuit
the perceived harm to the parties from disclosure
why alternatives other than sealing the documents are not available to protect legitimate private interests
why the public interest, including, but not limited to, the public health and safety, is best served by sealing the documents

Seals in his ruling said publicizing the settlement amount could imperil other “tourism based services” in Horry County and open both Beach Services Limited and Perreault’s relatives up for harassment.

“Petitioner argued that the publication of this settlement amount and its terms would result in undue harm to Petitioner and could result in unwanted attention, media publications, and harassment of Petitioner and Decedent’s family,” Seals ruled.View more on Yahoo

MALMÖ, Sweden (AP) — Climate activist Greta Thunberg will appear in court on Monday on a charge of disobeying police at a protest in southern Sweden last month.

Local newspaper Sydsvenskan reported that Thunberg and other activists were detained after they stopped traffic in the oil terminal of the port in Malmö on June 19.

Thunberg was charged because she refused to comply with police orders to leave the scene during the protest, according to Swedish Prosecution Authority spokeswoman Annika Collin and a statement from prosecutors.

Prosecutor Charlotte Ottosen told the newspaper that the crime of disobedience is typically punishable with fines.

Thunberg inspired a global youth movement demanding stronger efforts to fight climate change after staging weekly protests outside the Swedish Parliament starting in 2018.
