Before Jesus, Israel, every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear, Those Zealous For Sunday Man-made Sabbath Shall Be Ashamed

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
Isaiah:45:22-25

Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.
Psalm:119:78

Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.
Psalm:119:80

Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.
Psalm:119:116

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Revelation:22:14

Beholding The Rock and Lamb Jesus Christ Who Strengthens

Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers. Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham; Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant: But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments, And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not. Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations; Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go. Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.

Pope Francis says ‘We are all in the same boat,’ during Urbi et Orbi ceremony

The Urbi et Orbi, meaning to the city and the world, is a blessing usually delivered by the Roman pontiff at Christmas and Easter. It offers plenary indulgence, which means the forgiveness of sins to the faithful present and watching through media (future) outlets.

Still another fabrication was needed to enable Rome to profit by the fears and the vices of her adherents. This was supplied by the doctrine of indulgences. Full remission of sins, past, present, and future, and release from all the pains and penalties incurred, were promised to all who would enlist in the pontiff’s wars to extend his temporal dominion, to punish his enemies, or to exterminate those who dared deny his spiritual supremacy.  Great Controversy by Ellen G White pg 59.1

VATICAN CITY (RNS) — As the world grapples with the spread of the coronavirus, Pope Francis delivered a homily of hope on Friday (March 27), comparing the pandemic to a storm that can be overcome only by coming together in faith.

“We have realized that we are on the same boat, all of us fragile and disoriented, but at the same time important and needed, all of us called to row together, each of us in need of comforting the other, he said during his homily in front of a rainy St. Peter’s Basilica, before an empty square and a single priests.

Amid this pandemic, Francis said, we “have realized that we cannot go on thinking of ourselves, but only together can we do this.”

The pope delivered his homily after the eucharistic adoration during his extraordinary Urbi et Orbi ceremony, which he announced on Sunday (March 22).

The Urbi et Orbi, meaning to the city and the world, is a blessing usually delivered by the Roman pontiff at Christmas and Easter.

It offers plenary indulgence, which means the forgiveness of sins to the faithful present and watching through media outlets.

Francis drew from the day’s Gospel lesson, found in the fourth chapter of Mark, which relates the story of Jesus and his apostles being caught in a storm while on a boat. The pope said the story can offer spiritual guidance about how to face the coronavirus pandemic.

Just as it happened with the disciples, the pope said, we too are faced with a “darkness.”

“Thick darkness has gathered over our squares, our streets and our cities; it has taken over our lives, filling everything with a deafening silence and a distressing void, that stops everything as it passes by; we feel it in the air, we notice in people’s gestures, their glances give them away,” Francis said.

“We find ourselves afraid and lost,” he added.

The words are especially true in Italy, among the countries that has suffered the most casualties due to the pandemic. The entire peninsula has been under quarantine since March 9, with people not being able to leave their homes except to go to the supermarket and pharmacy stores. In the Catholic-majority country, all Masses, weddings and funerals have been banned.

From Bohemia the light extended to Germany, for disturbances in the University of Prague caused the withdrawal of hundreds of German students. Many of them had received from Huss their first knowledge of the Bible, and on their return they spread the gospel in their fatherland.
Tidings of the work at Prague were carried to Rome, and Huss was soon summoned to appear before the pope. To obey would be to expose himself to certain death. The king and queen of Bohemia, the university, members of the nobility, and officers of the government united in an appeal to the pontiff that Huss be permitted to remain at Prague and to answer at Rome by deputy. Instead of granting this request, the pope proceeded to the trial and condemnation of Huss, and then declared the city of Prague to be under interdict.
In that age this sentence, whenever pronounced, created widespread alarm. The ceremonies by which it was accompanied were well adapted to strike terror to a people who looked upon the pope as the representative of God Himself, holding the keys of heaven and hell, and possessing power to invoke temporal as well as spiritual judgments. It was believed that the gates of heaven were closed against the region smitten with interdict; that until it should please the pope to remove the ban, the dead were shut out from the abodes of bliss. In token of this terrible calamity, all the services of religion were suspended. The churches were closed. Marriages were solemnized in the churchyard. The dead, denied burial in consecrated ground, were interred, without the rites of sepulture, in the ditches or the fields. Thus by measures which appealed to the imagination, Rome essayed to control the consciences of men.
The city of Prague was filled with tumult. A large class denounced Huss as the cause of all their calamities and demanded that he be given up to the vengeance of Rome. To quiet the storm, the Reformer withdrew for a time to his native village. Writing to the friends whom he had left at Prague, he said: “If I have withdrawn from the midst of you, it is to follow the precept and example of Jesus Christ, in order not to give room to the ill-minded to draw on themselves eternal condemnation, and in order not to be to the pious a cause of affliction and persecution. I have retired also through an apprehension that impious priests might continue for a longer time to prohibit the preaching of the word of God amongst you; but I have not quitted you to deny the divine truth, for which, with God’s assistance, I am willing to die.”—Bonnechose, The Reformers Before the Reformation, vol. 1, p. 87. Huss did not cease his labors, but traveled through the surrounding country, preaching to eager crowds. Thus the measures to which the pope resorted to suppress the gospel were causing it to be the more widely extended. “We can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.” 2 Corinthians 13:8. GC 100.2 – GC 101.2

In the passage described in the Gospel, the apostles are fear-stricken and ask for the intervention of Jesus, who is asleep on the boat.

When he is awakened, after calming the storm, he asks his disciples, “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?”

“The storm exposes our vulnerability and uncovers those false and superfluous certainties around which we have constructed our daily schedules, our projects, our habits and priorities,” Francis said.

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.Hebrews:10:25Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews:10:23

The pandemic, he said, “shows us how we have allowed the very things that nourish, sustain and strengthen our lives and our communities” to become “dull and feeble.”

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.1 Timothy:4:6

“The tempest lays bare all our prepackaged ideas and forgetfulness of what nourishes our people’s souls; all those attempts that anesthetize us with ways of thinking and acting that supposedly ‘save’ us, but (they) instead prove incapable of putting us in touch with our roots and keeping alive the memory of those who have gone before us,” he said.

“We deprive ourselves of the antibodies we need to confront adversity.”

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.John:6:33

The pope condemned the way humanity has treated the environment, taking it for granted and seeking greed rather than justice. “We carried on regardless, thinking we would stay healthy in a world that was sick,” he said.

This present time, Francis added, is “a time of choosing.”

As we are asked to stay at home and put social life on hold, people have a chance to “choose what matters and what passes away, a time to separate what is necessary from what is not,” he said.

The Pope pointed to the numerous examples of faith that guide humanity through their witness and work, including the efforts of priests, social workers, volunteers, nurses, supermarket employees and doctors.

They teach us, the pope said, to offer ourselves to others amidst this pandemic.

“Let us invite Jesus into the boats of our lives. Let us hand over our fears to him so that he can conquer them,” he said. “Like the disciples, we will experience that with him on board there will be no shipwreck.”

An icon of the Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus, known as Salus Populi Romani, and the crucifix of San Marcello were displayed in front of St. Peter’s Basilica during the ceremony.

Pope Francis visited the two religious artifacts, historically used to pray for the end of plagues, when he walked through the streets of Rome on March 15.

Pope walks through the candles/churches like Jesus moves in Revelation 2/3. This is the antichrist. Run.

Adventist Catholic Procession _Weeping Aloud (IN THE NIGHT JOY IN THE MORNING), and saying: “If they would only tell me what I have done or what I have said!” GROSS DARKNESS THE PEOPLE! Any Jew Here?

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.Zechariah:8:23

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.Isaiah:2:3

That night I dreamed that I was in Battle Creek looking out from the side glass at the door and saw a company marching up to the house, two and two. They looked stern and determined. I knew them well and turned to open the parlor door to receive them, but thought I would look again. The scene was changed. The company now presented the appearance of a Catholic procession. One bore in his hand a cross, another a reed. And as they approached, the one carrying a reed made a circle around the house, saying three times: “This house is proscribed. The goods must be confiscated. They have spoken against our holy order.” Terror seized me, and I ran through the house, out of the north door, and found myself in the midst of a company, some of whom I knew, but I dared not speak a word to them for fear of being betrayed. I tried to seek a retired spot where I might weep and pray without meeting eager, inquisitive eyes wherever I turned. I repeated frequently: “If I could only understand this! If they will tell me what I have said or what I have done!”
I wept and prayed much as I saw our goods confiscated. I tried to read sympathy or pity for me in the looks of those around me, and marked the countenances of several whom I thought would speak to me and comfort me if they did not fear that they would be observed by others. I made one attempt to escape from the crowd, but seeing that I was watched, I concealed my intentions. I commenced weeping aloud, and saying: “If they would only tell me what I have done or what I have said!” My husband, who was sleeping in a bed in the same room, heard me weeping aloud and awoke me. My pillow was wet with tears, and a sad depression of spirits was upon me. 1T 577.2 – 1T 578.1

Popery had become the world’s despot. Kings and emperors bowed to the decrees of the Roman pontiff. The destinies of men, both for time and for eternity, seemed under his control. For hundreds of years the doctrines of Rome had been extensively and implicitly received, its rites reverently performed, its festivals generally observed. Its clergy were honored and liberally sustained. Never since has the Roman Church attained to greater dignity, magnificence, or power.
But “the noon of the papacy was the midnight of the world.”—J. A. Wylie,  The History of Protestantism,  b. 1, ch. 4. The Holy Scriptures were almost unknown, not only to the people, but to the priests. Like the Pharisees of old, the papal leaders hated the light which would reveal their sins. God’s law, the standard of righteousness, having been removed, they exercised power without limit, and practiced vice without restraint.  GC 60.1 – GC 60.2

Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary. Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs. A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees. They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground. They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long. O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever? Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom. For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

TEN WAYS TO IDENTIFY THE LITTLE HORN https://kingosiemo.wordpress.com/2022/04/20/ten-ways-to-identify-the-little-horn/

ISRAEL IS MY SON! ISRAEL IS JESUS AND JESUS IS ISRAEL: LISTEN TO HIM, Gather Jacob To Him, THOSE CALLED BY HIS NAME ARE ISRAELITES-Edenic Sabbath

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. And said unto me, THOU ART MY SERVANT, O ISRAEL, IN WHOM I WILL BE GLORIFIED.(And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.Matthew:3:17,While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED; HEAR YE HIM .Matthew:17:5,I have GLORIFIED thee on the EARTH: I HAVE FINISHED THE WORK WHICH THOU GAVEST ME TO DO. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am GLORIFIED in them.
John:17:4,10,Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath DONE IT: SHOUT, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: FOR THE LORD hath REDEEMED JACOB, and GLORIFIED HIMSELF in ISRAEL.Isaiah:44:23)

And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to BRING JACOB AGAIN TO HIM, Though ISRAEL be not GATHERED, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
Isaiah:49:1,3,5,7

Even EVERY ONE THAT IS CALLED BY MY NAME: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

TEN WAYS TO IDENTIFY THE LITTLE HORN

1.It came to power from among the ten divisions of Europe—the ten horns (Daniel 7:8).

2.It came to power after A.D. 476, because the “little horn” succeeded pagan Rome, which fell in that year (Daniel 7:7, 8).

3.It began as “a little horn”—a little power at its beginning (Daniel 7:8).

4.It uprooted three horns—the Heruli, the Vandals, and the Ostrogoths (Daniel 7:8, 24).

5.It has a man at its head (Daniel 7:8; see also 2 Thessalonians 2:3).

6.It is “different” from the others. They were “state” powers, and the little horn was a “church-state” combination (Daniel 7:24).

7.The little horn would speak great words and blasphemy (Daniel 7:8, 25). The definition of blasphemy from the Bible is to claim to be God and/or to claim to be able to forgive sin. (See Matthew 9:2–6; John 10:30–33.)

8.The little horn would wear out and kill many of God’s children. During its 1,260-year reign, the papal persecutions brought the death of millions (Daniel 7:25).

9.The little horn antichrist would think to change times and law (Daniel 7:25). The Catholic Church notes the changes it made to God’s law in its catechism. It removed the second commandment that forbids idolatry, changed the fourth commandment requiring worship on the seventh day of the week, and finally, divided the tenth commandment in two to retain a full ten commandments.

10.The little horn power would rule for “a time and times and the dividing of time”—elsewhere presented in the Bible as 1,260 days or forty-two months of prophetic time. Since a day is equal to a year in Bible prophecy, this power was to rule for 1,260 years. God foretold that it would reign supreme and persecute God’s obedient children for 1,260 years.

Ilhan Omar says US must join International Criminal Court before it can hold Putin accountable for war crimes, “Fighting Genocide EXTRIMISTS, Common Good “Holy Alliance” says Pope

The Monroe Doctrine was proclaimed at a time when the “allied powers” of Europe, whose representatives, assembled at Vienna, took to themselves the name of the “Holy Alliance,” were attempting to give renewed prominence to the idea that kings govern by divine right. “It was intended to teach the people that all the liberties they were entitled to possess were such only as the governing monarchs deemed expedient to grant them; that they were entitled to none whatsoever by virtue of the natural law; that the attempt to establish representative and liberal government, like that of the United States, was an unpardonable sin against God; and that the highest duty of citizenship was obedience to monarchical authority.” 1 PRUS 168.1

Such were the principles of the Holy Alliance of the crowned heads of Europe; its specific object was to re-establish the despotism of Spain upon her revolted colonies in South America and in Mexico. On the other hand, the essence of the Monroe Doctrine as then understood by all the world was that “while we forbid the establishment of despotic governments upon the American continent, we recognize the corresponding obligation to refrain from any attempt to force our political system upon any part of the Old World.” 2 PRUS 168.2

Now we have abandoned the Monroe Doctrine, and entered into the arena for foreign possessions, and this, of course, naturally calls for a large increase of the army and the navy. If the American nation persists in this policy, the time is past and gone forever when she can look down with condescending pity upon the nations of Europe groaning beneath the weight of tremendous military establishments. It is now seriously urged that the United States requires an army of at least 100,000 fighting men. This would mean an annual cost of about $150,000,000. It must also be remembered that to-day the nation is carrying a pension roll of most enormous proportions. Last year there was paid to the pensioners of the Civil war the gigantic sum of $145,000,000. This is an amount larger than the cost per annum of the entire peace establishment of Germany, including her pension roll.

ABCs of employment law: Sunday Religious accommodation Another general council! A world’s convention! Evangelical alliance, and universal creed!”

The Following post has been adapted to shed light on the implications the steps advocated for and the religious liberty breaching as consequence. We shall use coloured boxes and words to correct the error advocated.

A day of great intellectual darkness has been shown to be favorable to the success of the papacy. It will yet be demonstrated that a day of great intellectual light is equally favorable for its success. In past ages, when men were without God’s word and without the knowledge of the truth, their eyes were blindfolded, and thousands were ensnared, not seeing the net spread for their feet. In this generation there are many whose eyes become dazzled by the glare of human speculations, “science falsely so called;” they discern not the net, and walk into it as readily as if blindfolded. God designed that man’s intellectual powers should be held as a gift from his Maker and should be employed in the service of truth and righteousness; but when pride and ambition are cherished, and men exalt their own theories above the word of God, then intelligence can accomplish greater harm than ignorance. Thus the false science of the present day, which undermines faith in the Bible, will prove as successful in preparing the way for the acceptance of the papacy, with its pleasing forms, as did the withholding of knowledge in opening the way for its aggrandizement in the Dark Ages. Robin Shea

USA April 15 2022

Second post in our series.

NOTE FROM ROBIN: Last month, I posted the first in what will be a series of very basic explanations of the federal laws that govern the workplace.

I could not resist having religious accommodation as my topic this time. We are in an intensely religious time of year. Passover starts today, and it’s also Good Friday for most Christians. Ramadan started on April 2 and will run through May 2. Easter Sunday will be day after tomorrow for most Christians (or a week from Sunday for Eastern Orthodox Christians).

Subsequent posts will get into other areas of employment law, including retaliation, disability accommodation, harassment, and wage-hour. If there is a topic that you’d like to see covered, please send me an email or leave a comment here.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the federal law that prohibits discrimination based on race, sex, national origin, color, and religion. As we discussed last time, “discrimination” means treating someone differently (less favorably) because of one or more of these characteristics.

Very straightforward, right? All an employer has to do is treat everybody exactly the same way and there should be no problem?

And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?Judges:2:2

Treating everybody the same — equally — is indeed a good start. But sometimes, treating everybody exactly the same isn’t fair. Sometimes doing the right thing requires us to treat people differently. Parents know this. In the employment context, that obligation to treat people differently is known as “reasonable accommodation.”

Title VII in its original form prohibited religious discrimination but didn’t require religious accommodation. But in 1970, a federal appeals court found in favor of an employer who fired an employee for refusing to work on Sunday because of his religious beliefs. According to the court, the employer didn’t discriminate because it made all its employees work on Sundays when needed. In other words, the employer treated the employee with the religious need the same way it treated everyone else.

And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.Esther:3:8

The case went to the U.S. Supreme Court, which split 50-50 on the issue, meaning that the lower court decision was left in place. About a year later, Congress amended Title VII to add a religious accommodation obligation.

Thus all can proclaim the third angel’s message with heart and voice.
By the Lord’s appointment, all the evil that is countenanced and vindicated by a nation—all the injustice and oppression practiced against God’s people for the truth’s sake, all the devices made to hinder and oppress them—will return upon themselves. Mark God’s dealings with nations, as recorded in His Word. Selfishness and oppression practiced by one nation on another has always brought the sure result. That oppression which they have made others to suffer has come upon the oppressors themselves. One part of the nation rises up against the other part, and God allows that nation to destroy itself.
The most cruel despotism has been practiced by men against his fellow man, even in 1897. Those who have allowed officers to rule and govern by despotic power have created a spirit of retaliation, and this will react upon those who have caused pain and suffering to their fellow men. Those who for many years have been breaking down the commandments of God, trample God’s law under their unholy feet, are being educated to despise everything like human law and restraint. Sin and violence and crime have created a condition of lawlessness that causes iniquity to abound.
Men who claim to be preaching the gospel of Christ teach that the law of God is not valid. The strive to make it void, and teach the churches the law of God, the foundation of His government in heaven and in earth, was crucified with Christ. A more fatal error could not be brought into existence. The curse of God, pronounced upon the transgressor of His law, will rebound upon those who have ventured to do wickedly. The eternal justice of God is working with an unseen power, bringing about events which, were men half intelligent in regard to the Word of God, they would recognize.
The transgressors of the fourth commandment have made the Sabbath to fit their own maxims and teachings. They declare that the first day of the week is the Sabbath, and are now making wonderful restrictions to show their reverence for a day that is but a common working day and has not one thread of sanctity in it. The observance of this day originated with the Catholic church, which has set aside the day that God gave to the world as a memorial of creation, and which defines who its Author is—the living God, who created the world in six days, who rested on the seventh day, and who sanctified and blessed the day of His rest.
The Protestant world has taken this child of papacy, and cherished it, and called it Christ’s day—the Christian Sabbath. But it is a spurious sabbath, an idol, placed where the Lord’s day should be. And, like Cain, the transgressor is exceedingly angry because the whole world does not regard it with the sacredness of the Sabbath of the Lord.
God’s people must awake 12LtMs, Ms 163, 1897, par. 10 – 12LtMs, Ms 163, 1897, par. 16

As a result of the amendment, if an employee has a religious belief or practice that conflicts with a job requirement, the employer must at least try to accommodate the employee unless doing so would be an “undue hardship” for the employer. An “undue hardship” in this context would be anything more than a “de minimis” (insignificant) difficulty or expense. The employer has the burden of proving undue hardship in court.

When deciding whether to make a reasonable accommodation for an employee’s religious beliefs or practices, the employer should ask itself three questions:

1) Is the employee’s belief or practice “religious” in nature?

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.John:19:7……Whenever the church has obtained secular power, she has employed it to punish dissent from her doctrines. Protestant churches that have followed in the steps of Rome by forming alliance with worldly powers have manifested a similar desire to restrict liberty of conscience. An example of this is given in the long-continued persecution of dissenters by the Church of England. During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, thousands of nonconformist ministers were forced to flee from their churches, and many, both of pastors and people, were subjected to fine, imprisonment, torture, and martyrdom.
It was apostasy that led the early church to seek the aid of the civil government, and this prepared the way for the development of the papacy—the beast. Said Paul: “There” shall “come a falling away, … and that man of sin be revealed.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3. So apostasy in the church will prepare the way for the image to the beast. GC 443.3 – GC 443.4

If no, there is no duty to make reasonable accommodations. This came up a lot last year with COVID-19 vaccines, as I wrote about here and here. If an employee objected to the vaccines because of fear for his health, or for political reasons, then there would be no right to religious accommodation. On the other hand, if the employee believed it would be a sin to get the vaccine, then the employer would proceed to Question 2.

Charles Beecher, in a sermon in the year 1846, declared that the ministry of “the evangelical Protestant denominations” is “not only formed all the way up under a tremendous pressure of merely human fear, but they live, and move, and breathe in a state of things radically corrupt, and appealing every hour to every baser element of their nature to hush up the truth, and bow the knee to the power of apostasy. Was not this the way things went with Rome? Are we not living her life over again? And what do we see just ahead? Another general council! A world’s convention! Evangelical alliance, and universal creed!”—Sermon on “The Bible a Sufficient Creed,” delivered at Fort Wayne, Indiana, Feb. 22, 1846. When this shall be gained, then, in the effort to secure complete uniformity, it will be only a step to the resort to force. GC 444.3

2) Is the employee’s religious belief sincerely held?

And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?Matthew:21:23

Employers are supposed to give the employee the benefit of the doubt on this point, but there are situations in which the employee’s belief is clearly not sincere. Think about someone who has been given Sunday mornings off to go to church and is caught hanging out at the neighborhood bar. Not sincere, and the employer is done. But if the belief is or appears to be sincere, proceed to Question 3.

If the reader would understand the agencies to be employed in the soon-coming contest, he has but to trace the record of the means which Rome employed for the same object in ages past. If he would know how papists and Protestants united will deal with those who reject their dogmas, let him see the spirit which Rome manifested toward the Sabbath and its defenders.
Royal edicts, general councils, and church ordinances sustained by secular power were the steps by which the pagan festival attained its position of honor in the Christian world. The first public measure enforcing Sunday observance was the law enacted by Constantine. (A.D. 321; see Appendix note for page 53.) This edict required townspeople to rest on “the venerable day of the sun,” but permitted countrymen to continue their agricultural pursuits. Though virtually a heathen statute, it was enforced by the emperor after his nominal acceptance of Christianity.
The royal mandate not proving a sufficient substitute for divine authority, Eusebius, a bishop who sought the favor of princes, and who was the special friend and flatterer of Constantine, advanced the claim that Christ had transferred the Sabbath to Sunday. Not a single testimony of the Scriptures was produced in proof of the new doctrine. Eusebius himself unwittingly acknowledges its falsity and points to the real authors of the change. “All things,” he says, “whatever that it was duty to do on the Sabbath, these we have transferred to the Lord’s Day.”—Robert Cox, Sabbath Laws and Sabbath Duties, page 538. But the Sunday argument, groundless as it was, served to embolden men in trampling upon the Sabbath of the Lord. All who desired to be honored by the world accepted the popular festival.
As the papacy became firmly established, the work of Sunday exaltation was continued. For a time the people engaged in agricultural labor when not attending church, and the seventh day was still regarded as the Sabbath. But steadily a change was effected. Those in holy office were forbidden to pass judgment in any civil controversy on the Sunday. Soon after, all persons, of whatever rank, were commanded to refrain from common labor on pain of a fine for freemen and stripes in the case of servants. Later it was decreed that rich men should be punished with the loss of half of their estates; and finally, that if still obstinate they should be made slaves. The lower classes were to suffer perpetual banishment. GC 573.2 – GC 574.3

3) Would accommodation involve more than a minimal expense or disruption for the employer? In other words, would it be an “undue hardship” to accommodate? If no, then accommodate. If yes, then don’t.

Now that you’re an expert, take a crack at this one (answers/commentary at the end):

LAURA’S EASTER BRUNCH

A Religious Accommodation Story

Laura had nearly completed the work schedule for Easter weekend. She was expecting her bistro to do some great business. Friday and Saturday nights were always busy. And she and her sous chef had come up with a lovely Sunday brunch. Salt-cured country ham. Bunny-shaped omelets with green olives for eyes, sliced carrots for noses, and pancetta matchsticks for whiskers. Homemade bread with embedded Easter eggs. Fruit salad with a killer Greek yogurt and mint dressing. And of course plenty of coffee, and artisanal Bloody Marys and Mimosas.

But she needed an employee to decorate the eggs to go in the bread on Sunday morning. Fifteen of her 20 employees1 — kitchen staff, wait staff, and dishwashers — were already on the schedule. Only five employees were not yet scheduled: Abe, Jason, Joseph, Larry, and Mohammed. Any of them could do a fine job decorating the eggs.

Laura immediately ruled out Joseph. He was a devout Catholic, and had taken the afternoon off to go to the Good Friday service at his church. He’d be going to Mass on Sunday morning for sure. She decided to start with Mohammed.

“Mohammed, can you work on Sunday? I need someone to decorate eggs to go in the brunch bread.”

“I’d rather not,” replied Mohammed. “During Ramadan we have to fast from dawn to dusk. A morning shift would be really tough because I’d have to smell that food when I can’t have any.2 (And so much pork!) But I’d be glad to work tonight or Saturday night.”

“OK, I’ll take you up on that. Let me try someone else for Sunday.”

Wasn’t Jason an atheist?3 He’d be perfect!

“Hey, Jason, I’m going to put you on the schedule for Sunday morning. I need someone to decorate eggs to go in the bread for Sunday brunch.”

“I’d be glad to, Laura, even though I don’t believe in all that Easter hocus pocus. But don’t you remember? You gave me this weekend off so my girlfriend and I could go to the beach. After you told me I could go, I made a non-refundable prepaid reservation, so I can’t reschedule.”

“I’m sorry. You’re right, I forgot. Don’t worry about it. I’ll find someone else.”

Darn! Well, there was still Abe, who was Jewish. In fact, he was getting ready to leave for the day because Laura always let him off for the Sabbath.

“Hey, Abe. I’m gonna need for you to come in on Sunday morning to decorate the eggs to go in the Easter bread.”

“I’ll have to say no, Laura. With all due respect, it violates my religious beliefs to actively participate in a Christian holiday.”4

“Don’t worry about it, Abe. I won’t make you work this Sunday.”

“Thanks, Laura. You’re all right. See you tomorrow.”

OK. That left Larry. Laura had put him off as long as she could because Larry had his own religion, “Larryism,” with a set of rules that applied to no one but him. He was a good guy, but Laura dreaded talking to him when there was a possibility that religion would come up.

“Hi, Larry. I need for you to come in on Sunday morning to decorate eggs to go with our Easter bread.”

“Oh, Laura, you know I’d do anything for you, but this Sunday is The Day of the Holy Howling Coati. It is a sacred day in Larryism, and servile work is strictly forbidden.”5

“Come on, Larry! I’m desperate! You’re gonna have to work unless I get a note from your pastor.”6

“But, Laura, you know that Larryism does not recognize fallible human pastors. There is no one I could ask for a note.”

What was she going to do? It was already 6 p.m.

Just then, the door opened, and in walked Joseph. “Hi, all. Laura, why so glum?”

“I can’t get anyone to decorate the eggs to go in the bread for Easter brunch!”

“That’s too bad. I’d like to help you, but I’m driving up to Baltimore on Sunday to see the Orioles.”

“The Orioles?”

“Yeah. My frat buddy and I decided to give it a shot . . . we’ll see if we can get in.”

“You don’t have tickets?”

“Nah. But I don’t think they’ll be sold out. We figure if we hit the road by 7 a.m., we’ll be there in time for the first pitch.”

“But it’s Easter, and you’re Catholic. Aren’t you required to go to Mass?”

“Geez, you sound like my mother. No, I’d rather go to the ball game.”

“Weren’t you at church this afternoon for Good Friday?”

“Well, yeah, but only because my mom wanted me to take her. But she’s going to be at my aunt’s this weekend, so I’m off the hook for Sunday.”

Laura thought for a minute. No religious concern, no non-refundable tickets . . .

“Joseph, I have some bad news for you.”7

Eve Listens To The Beast: The World Wonders After The Beast-Worship Him Who Made, Rome Re-rise

The Third Angel’s Message
Stanmore, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

December 17, 1897
Portions of this manuscript are published in 7BC 981; 7ABC 471; LDE 136; 5MR 102-103.

“Ye are laborers together with God; ye are God’s husbandry: ye are God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9. Our building may be erected upon the true foundation, and composed of the most precious material—gold, silver, and precious stones. These are as durable as eternity. But though unseen influences guide the current of the life, there is still need of the co-operation of the human agency in his individual action with the divine. The Lord is pleased to honor men in making them fellow workers with Himself, that humanity may touch humanity, and the divine Worker, with man, lay hold upon infinity. Thus the structure goes up. The forces are working, and the enlightened perception of man recognizes a power working within him that is subduing him, soul, body and spirit, the results of which are to last not only for time, but for eternity.

The warfare of the Prince of life with the prince of darkness is very trying and humiliating to the conscientious soul, but if God’s plans are prayerfully and carefully carried out, those who have the light and a knowledge of the Word of God, in this age when such open and universal contempt is placed upon His law, when it is frowned upon by priests and rulers and despised as was Christ when He was upon earth, rise with the loyal and proclaim the third angel’s message.

John was directed by the “Alpha and Omega” Revelation 1:11 to a people who in the last days were making void the law of God. But these churches, who have drank deeply of the wine of Babylon are to receive a startling message of truth which will reveal to them their true position. The loud cry, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication,” has been, and will again be, given. Revelation 14:8.

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his make in his forehead or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone, in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever; and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Verses 9-11.

This is the judgment appointed in that great day to be executed upon all who have deceived the inhabitants of the earth and caused them to believe the fatal lies that have been presented as truth. This is plainly brought to view in Revelation 13. Let all, who will, read this definite explanation of the apostate power against the law of God: “And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds and tongues and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword, must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.” Verses 6-10. Read to the close of the chapter.

In (Revelation 14) John beholds another scene. He sees a people whose fidelity and loyalty to the laws of God’s kingdom, grow with the emergency. The contempt placed upon the law of God only makes them reveal more decidedly their love for that law. It increases with the contempt that is placed upon it. This commandment-keeping people place in song the declaration of their faith as did the psalmist: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Verse 12. Their happy voices are upraised as they echo the words of the psalmist, “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity, they walk in his ways. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes. Then shall I not be ashamed when I have respect unto all thy commandments. I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned all thy righteous judgments. I will keep thy statutes, O forsake me not utterly.” Psalm 119:1-8.

“Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments. So shall I keep thy law continually forever and ever. And I will walk at liberty; for I seek thy precepts. I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved. My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved: and I will meditate in thy statutes.” Verses 41-48.

“O how love I thy law, it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients because I keep thy precepts. I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word. I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me. How sweet are thy words unto my taste, yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.” Verses 97-104.

“It is time for thee, Lord, to work; for they have made void thy law Therefore I love thy commandments above gold, yea, above fine gold. Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right: and I hate every false way. Thy testimonies are wonderful, therefore doth my soul keep them. The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. I opened my mouth, and panted; for I longed for thy commandments. Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy name. Order my steps in thy word. Let not any iniquity have dominion over me. Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant, and teach me thy statutes. Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.” Verses 126-136.

Thus all can proclaim the third angel’s message with heart and voice.By the Lord’s appointment, all the evil that is countenanced and vindicated by a nation—all the injustice and oppression practiced against God’s people for the truth’s sake, all the devices made to hinder and oppress them—will return upon themselves.

God’s people must awake. Young men need to enter more deeply into the study of the Word. Obedience to the Word will follow. Probationary time is given us, not to secure our own pleasures, ease, and the praise of human beings. It is given us to honor and glorify God. We are to overcome selfishness. We are instructed in the Word to consider our eternal interests. Allegiance to God will impress upon each Christian his duty to humanity. All who love God will keep His commandments, for this is the sign God’s children bear to distinguish them from the world.

“And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations: that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore: for it is holy unto you: everyone that defileth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the Sabbath of rest holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for it is a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh he rested, and was refreshed.” Exodus 31:12-17.

The everlasting gospel is to be proclaimed. “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made the heavens, and earth, and the sea, and the fountain of waters.” Revelation 14:6, 7. The attention of the people is to be called to the long neglected oracles of God. All kindreds and nations and people are to be aroused. Their minds are to be stirred, their attention called to the Word of God. Men are to hear the message that proclaims the soon coming of Christ. All are to open their eyes, and unstop their ears, and hear the message of the first angel, “Fear God, and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come, and worship him that made heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

That God who made the world is the only object to whom human beings should bow. God has not given to human beings, the power to claim homage to themselves. He has given to none the power to become an object of worship. “Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them, and he saith unto him, All these will I give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then said Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and behold, angels came and ministered unto him.” Matthew 4:8-11.

Here we are taught that finite man is not to be placed where God should be. He is not to be honored as a god, or to be bowed down to. “Worship him that made heaven and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:7. The man of sin is worshiped in the person of the pope, and his representative, the cardinal. But God has not given this power to pope or prelate. The pope is not regarded by God as anything more than a man who is acting out in our world the character of the man of sin, representing in his claims that power and authority which Satan claimed in the heavenly courts.

Satan inspires these men who claim to be Christ’s vicegerents upon earth. Prayers are offered to private saints in heaven for many favors. But these men are not in heaven. They lie in their graves until the coming of the Son of man in the clouds of heaven. Mary, the mother of our Lord, has not been raised. She is waiting the sould of the trump of God that shall call the dead from their prison house. All the prayers offered to Mary fall to the ground. Mary’s ears have not yet been pierced by the sound of the trump of God.

The question has been asked, Do you not believe that we should pray to the dead apostles and saints? No; for this would teach for doctrine not a “Thus saith the Lord,” but the thus saith of the man of sin, “the son of perdition; who opposeth himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4.

“The mystery of iniquity doth already work; only he who now letteth, will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” Verses 7-12.

Read chapters four and six of the prophet Hosea. Those who trample upon God’s law make human laws which they will force the people to accept. Men will devise and counsel and plan what they will do. The whole world keeps Sunday, they say, and why should not this people, who are so few in number, do according to the laws of the land? Because they are blinded by error, because they take their words from the lips of the priests and the human law makers, they suppose that it does not matter if they do not keep the law of God instituted in Eden, when the foundations of the earth were laid, and all the sons of God shouted for joy. God’s memorial was then given to man, that he might honor the name of the living God who made the world in six days and sanctified and blessed the day of His rest.

God proclaimed the Sabbath made in Eden as the Sabbath that was to endure forever. Exodus 31:12-18. “For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people. But because the Lord love you, and because he would keep the oath which he swore unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.” Deuteronomy 7:6-9.

The Sabbath is to be a sign between God and His people. “Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it as a sign between me and you throughout your generations: that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.” Exodus 31:13. This is Bible sanctification.
Those who teach for doctrines the commandments of men make void the law of God through their tradition. Said Christ, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put in under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law and the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, until all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:14-18.

Just as long as the heavens remain above us, and the earth is beneath our feet, there can be no semblance of excuse for any power in heaven or earth to change the law of God. “Whosoever therefore,” continued Christ, “shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, the same shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Verses 19, 20.

“As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one. There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good; no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips. Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitternness: their feet are swift to shed blood: destruction and misery are in their ways: and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes.” Romans 3:10-18. The eye of Him who sees the present condition of things has portrayed the state of things existing in the world and the church today. Psalm 14:1-4. And what has brought about this terrible condition? It is the making void of the law of God.

The men who have the oracles of God, not only break the law themselves, but teach those who would investigate and obey the light to do the same. The men who claim to be teachers deceive the people as did the leaders in Israel in Christ’s day. He, the great Teacher, was in the world; He was the light of the world; but Satan interposed his hellish shadow between Him and the souls whom Christ came to save. When accused by the Pharisees, He said, “Ye make void the law of God by your tradition.” “Ye teach for doctrine the commandments of men.” Matthew 15:6, 9. Again He said to those so-called teachers, “Ye are both ignorant of the Scriptures and the power of God.” Matthew 22:29.

Satan is continuing the work on earth that he commenced in heaven. He leads men to transgress the commandments of God. The plain “Thus saith the Lord” is put aside for the thus saith of men. The whole world needs to be instructed in the oracles of God, to understand the object of the atonement, the atonement, with God. The object of this atonement was that the divine law and government might be maintained. The sinner is pardoned through repentance toward God and faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. There is forgiveness of sin, and yet the law of God stands immutable, eternal as His throne.
There is no such thing as weakening or strengthening the law of Jehovah. As it has always been, so it is. It cannot be repealed or changed in one principle. It is eternal, immutable as God Himself. To “honor” or “dishonor” it is but the speech of men. The law is to awaken respect and honor in the minds of the human family. Christ honored the law of Jehovah by giving it His implicit obedience. The law of Jehovah was always holy, just, and good, and complete in itself. The law is altogether a different thing from what men in their ignorance have considered it. It is because of Satan’s falsehoods that such blindness exists in regard to the law.
The law of God was given for the human family, and in punishing sin, Christ reveals His holiness, and His love even for those whom He has punished. Men did not obey the Word of God in this world, and because He loved them, He gave them a probation; He gave them His only begotten Son to bear all the guilt of their transgression. If they refuse the expensive offering of heaven, and will not obey His commandments in their life-time, while wholly dependent upon God; if they show no gratitude and love by keeping His commandments, Christ can do no more for them. But if they will receive the Son of God, believe in Him, they will find their way back, through Jesus Christ’s own merits, to the place of sons and daughters of God. 12LtMs 1.1897116300 – 12LtMs, Ms 163, 1897, par. 33

do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy:

Prophesy ye not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame. O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.
