The trip by former Pentagon and national security figures is a show of support for the island claimed by Beijing

US President Joe Biden on Monday sent a group of former military and national security figures to Taiwan, where they will meet with officials, including President Tsai Ing-wen. The trip comes amid concerns in the US that Beijing may be enticed to invade the island having observed the US’ unwillingness to commit troops to Ukraine.

The visit was initially reported by Reuters and confirmed shortly afterwards by Taiwanese diplomats. Taiwan’s embassy in the US said the trip is “a sign that relations between Taipei and Washington remain ‘rock-solid’!”

Led by former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen, the delegation includes Meghan O’Sullivan, a former deputy national security advisor in George W. Bush’s administration, and Michele Flournoy, a former under secretary of defense under Barack Obama. Former National Security Council officials Mike Green and Evan Medeiros also traveled with the group.

The team is expected to arrive in Taipei on Tuesday, and meet with President Tsai on Wednesday.

A similar trip took place under Biden’s direction last April, when a group of former lawmakers and diplomats traveled to Taiwan to assure Taipei that Washington would support the island nation’s defense. While the government in Beijing insists that Taiwan belongs to China, the US has unofficially supported Taiwanese independence, supplying weapons to Taipei even while recognizing China’s claim to the island.

The US is not party to any binding security treaties with Taiwan, and has never pledged to defend the island with force. This non-committal position, coupled with the US’ refusal to commit troops to Ukraine in response to Russia’s military offensive there last week, has led to speculation in the US media that Beijing may be considering “an invasion.”

In an interview last week, former President Donald Trump claimed that China would “absolutely” move on Taiwan during Biden’s presidency.

While there are no signs that such a move is in the works, Taiwan has accused the Chinese military of probing its air defense zone with jets last week.

Speaking to Reuters, an unnamed US official declined to link the delegation’s trip with any increased threat, saying that it instead represented Biden’s “broader commitment to Taiwan.”

At this time great perils surrounded the Protestant cause. The anathemas of the pope thundered against Geneva, and mighty nations threatened it with destruction. Vowed to perpetual poverty and humility, it was their studied aim to secure wealth and power, to be devoted to the overthrow of Protestantism, and the re-establishment of the papal supremacy.
When appearing as members of their order, they wore a garb of sanctity, visiting prisons and hospitals, ministering to the sick and the poor, professing to have renounced the world, and bearing the sacred name of Jesus, who went about doing good. But under this blameless exterior the most criminal and deadly purposes were often concealed. It was a fundamental principle of the order that the end justifies the means. By this code, lying, theft, perjury, assassination, were not only pardonable but commendable, when they served the interests of the church. Under various disguises the Jesuits worked their way into offices of state, climbing up to be the counselors of kings, and shaping the policy of nations. They became servants to act as spies upon their masters. They established colleges for the sons of princes and nobles, and schools for the common people; and the children of Protestant parents were drawn into an observance of popish rites. All the outward pomp and display of the Romish worship was brought to bear to confuse the mind and dazzle and captivate the imagination, and thus the liberty for which the fathers had toiled and bled was betrayed by the sons. The Jesuits rapidly spread themselves over Europe, and wherever they went, there followed a revival of popery.
To give them greater power, a bull was issued re-establishing the inquisition. (See Appendix.) Notwithstanding the general abhorrence with which it was regarded, even in Catholic countries, this terrible tribunal was again set up by popish rulers, and atrocities too terrible to bear the light of day were repeated in its secret dungeons. In many countries, thousands upon thousands of the very flower of the nation, the purest and noblest, the most intellectual and highly educated, pious and devoted pastors, industrious and patriotic citizens, brilliant scholars, talented artists, skillful artisans, were slain or forced to flee to other lands. Putin slams West’s ‘empire of lies’

Russia’s president has criticized the West as the country faces a new massive wave of sanctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the West an “empire of lies,” responding to a new wave of sanctions that hit the country over its special military operation in neighboring Ukraine.

Speaking to top government officials on Monday, he said: “I invited you to discuss economic and financial issues … bearing in mind the sanctions that the so-called Western community — an empire of lies, as I called it in my address — is trying to implement against our country.”

The “empire of lies” term was coined by Russia’s president last Thursday, when he announced the launch of the offensive in Ukraine. Since the US is a “system-forming power,” the whole collective West has become such an “empire,” he said then.

“By the way, American politicians, political scientists, and journalists themselves write and say that, in recent years, an actual ‘empire of lies’ has been created inside the United States. It’s hard to disagree with that, as it’s true,” Putin stated.

All [the US] satellites not only dutifully agree, sing along to its music, but also copy its behavior, and enthusiastically accept the rules they are offered. Therefore, with good reason, we can confidently say that the entire so-called Western bloc, formed by the United States in its own image and likeness, all of it is an ‘empire of lies.’

Russia’s operation in Ukraine has become the only option left to prevent further bloodshed in the country and stop Kiev from trying to launch an all-out assault on the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in the country’s east, the Kremlin has explained. Ahead of the offensive, Moscow formally recognized the People’s Republics there as independent states.

Kiev, however, claimed the attack was “unprovoked,” insisting it has had zero plans to retake the breakaway regions by force. Donetsk and Lugansk split from Ukraine back in 2014 following the Maidan coup, which ousted the democratically-elected government of the country. While active, large-scale combat ended with the 2014-15 Minsk agreements, the roadmap out of the crisis the deal had provided was never implemented, with the republics enduring years of low-intensity warfare that left thousands of people dead.

POPE FRANCIS TWO EDGED PENNED “WORD”

“International negotiations cannot make significant progress due to positions being taken by countries which place their NATIONAL INTERESTS above the global common good,” says Pope Francis.

“If you can’t join the global Ecumenical Tsunami Movement of Unity, You are a Fundamentalist extremist and even cults to be eliminate”. How troubling it is that sons of men can’t understand events! Old times Spanish principles and phrases are thrown in the air and none cares to question.

To many minds, war causes unreasoning as people are driven fear rather than justice. Matters which need careful consideration and even reasoning together are carried headlong by the Mighty who look upon weapons as a source of strength to solve a problem rather than dialogue. The history of America shows it’s less involvement in wars to bring peace. How about now when they hide behind forces to stir the 🔥 fire of animosity, how about training and encouraging suicidal affairs to civilians. Is bloodshed a solution?

I have said once and again that USA has followed a path of Rome to eliminate possible superpowers. The key issue has been to do away with emerging competing interests, which I quote below:

EU to ban RT and Sputnik

European Commission president announces bloc-wide ban on Russian media outlets

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Sunday that the EU will ban the Russian media outlets RT and Sputnik accusing them of spreading “harmful disinformation.” She did not specify whether this ban will apply solely to television broadcasts, or whether RT and Sputnik’s websites will be affected.

In what she called an “unprecedented” step, von der Leyen announced that “we will ban in the European Union the Kremlin’s media machine.”

“The state owned Russia Today and Sputnik, as well as their subsidiaries, will no longer be able to spread their lies to justify Putin’s war and to sow division in our union,” she continued. “We are developing tools to ban toxic and harmful disinformation in Europe.”

Von der Leyen’s move comes a day after the Association of European Journalists called on the EU to implement a bloc-wide ban on RT, and have its journalists “removed.” It also comes several days after the EU sanctioned RT’s editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan. 

Simonyan responded to the latest ban by declaring that “not a single person who faithfully worked and continues to work for us will be laid off in any country.”

We know how to do our job in the conditions of bans. These freedom-loving people have been preparing us for this for eight years.

RT has previously faced censorship in Europe, with German regulators banning its German-language channel earlier this month. More recently, Google subsidiary YouTube and Facebook parent company Meta demonetized RT’s accounts on Saturday, while Google blocked downloads of RT’s app on Ukrainian territory earlier on Sunday.

Immediately before announcing the ban on RT and Sputnik, von der Leyen revealed that the EU will also close off its airspace to all Russian aircraft, and will supply Ukraine with weapons.

Confusions of Babylon and Antichrist—It is our individual duty to walk humbly with God. We are not to seek any strange, new message. We are not to think that the chosen ones of God who are trying to walk in the light, compose Babylon. The fallen denominational churches are Babylon. The God of heaven is judge of all things because no injustice is with him, do we have clean hands? Are people crying for liberty in our borders? How quick are we to judge others!

We have come to a repetition of history whereby we identify a common enemy and for the sake of unity we unite in the name of common Good policy to isolate it quickly, eliminate it quickly condemn it quickly and no middle ground looking for reasoning together. In all ends either political, the world is filled with the spirit of the antichrist to eliminate those whom it can’t agree with own ideologies. Justice and reason standeth afar off. The Catholic Social Teachings of Common Good Policies have made the world drunk as the Bible says in Daniel 8: 25. This mingling of Church and State is bringing evil results to eliminate Christ, even has David was surrounded. Next it will move from political to Religious UNITY. Is Rome not seeking churches to return to her control and footsteps again by force?Have we forgotten climate Change Common Good UNITY? In search for a better world yet we see total Control!!!

The Drunkenness of the Nations

While recently in conversation with a literary gentleman, allusion was made to the case of a government official, who was unable to perform his duties on a late public occasion on account of intoxication. In commenting upon it the gentleman remarked, “That is not the worst of it; the whole nation is drunk; the people are thoroughly filled, even to intoxication, with the spirit of war, and have lost control of their reason.” This remark, coming as it did from an avowed infidel, struck me as expressing very forcibly the state of the nations as described by the prophet in Jeremiah 25:26-38. We understand this prophecy applies to the time just before the second advent of Christ, when the nations are angry, Revelation 11:18, and are preparing for the “battle of that great day of God Almighty. Revelation 16:14.

And while we cannot help deploring the state of things that now exists, and the worse condition that will exist, we are compelled to see and admit that the prophecies are being rapidly fulfilled before our eyes. As we see the spirit of war and strife taking hold of the people, and even drawing away some who have seen the light of present truth, our earnest prayer should go up to God that he would save his people from even tasting of the “wine cup of this fury.”

In giving the signs of his second coming, our Saviour admonishes the watching, waiting ones to take heed lest their hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness. We understand that the term drunkenness, here used signifies something more than physical intoxication, for we find it to be a peculiarity of all except God’s people at the coming of Christ, and even some of his servants will say “my Lord delayeth his coming” and will “eat and drink with the drunken.” BACK TO ROME: They shall not dwell in the LORD’s land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria. Hosea:9:3, Revelation 18:2-4

Now while we are compelled to deplore the increasing prevalence of intemperance in our midst, yet it does not follow that this is the drunkenness here referred to, which we think signifies the excited and almost insane condition of the masses at or near the end produced by drinking deeply into the spirit of war and strife and the lusts of the world.

Babylon is represented in the revelation as making “all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” How well this has been fulfilled may readily be seen in the facts before our eyes, and she is still presenting the poisoned chalice to the lips of her infatuated devotees. This is amply illustrated in the teachings of the corrupt christianity of the day. The people are being filled with the spirit of strife and contention by means of war sermons and the like, and the whole energies of the church and clergy seem bent in this one direction. Even the children are taught to love war and to hate their enemies, while a military spirit pervades even their play-hours, and instead of their childish amusements we find them learning the “Zouave drill” and other military evolutions. At a late “festival’ of a large and popular Sunday-school, each boy was presented with a toy gun and equipments, and the public press admired the movement as calculated to instill a spirit of patriotism into the tender minds of the youth, which might have a lasting effect upon them. If patriotism and the use of implements of death are inseparable, then the less Christians have of it the better, and while we believe children should be taught to love a country so good as ours, yet it ought not to be to the exclusion of true Christianity, so antagonistic to a spirit of war and bloodshed. But above all they should be taught to earnestly “desire a better country, that is, an heavenly.” 

While we cannot fail to see this growing tendency in our midst, may we also recognize it as one of the signs of Christ’s speedy coming, and endeavor faithfully to heed the injunction of the great Head of the Church: “Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.” Wm. The next problem which demands solution is that of the large army and navy which will be continually required for the retention of the group. Militarism and democracy are incompatible. A large standing armed force is the natural adjunct of a monarchy.

“The monarch represents an authority springing not from the periodically expressed consent of the people, and relying for the maintenance of that authority, if occasion requires, upon the employment of force, even against the popular will. An army is an organization of men subject to the command of a superior will, the origin or the purpose of which it is assumed to have no right to question. The standing army is in this sense, therefore, according to its nature and spirit, an essentially monarchical institution.” 

It is clear from this that in a republic there is no rightful place for a large standing force. Such a thing is contrary to the very basic principles upon which republics are founded, besides being a constant menace to the free expression of the popular will and thought, and a dangerous source of arbitrary power in the hands of the men who for the time being form the government.

Military virtues are in many instances the opposite of civic virtues; and in more cases than one the attributes and qualities necessary to constitute a good military man are the very ones which constitute a bad civilian. Military modes of thinking and methods of action unfit men for the duties incumbent upon the citizens of a free republic. The rise of a large, permanent armed force in a republic always portends the downfall and ruin of free government.

In Europe the armies of the great powers are a necessity, or at least they are a necessity under the present conditions. Europe is simply a conglomeration of armed camps, in which the hostile nations sit watching each other, and preparing for the conflict which their mutually rival interests are bound sooner or later to bring. But with us an army for defense is wholly unnecessary. Locked in the embraces of two broad oceans we have naught to fear from a foreign invader. Lincoln once said that “all the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasures of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years.” These words are undoubtedly true. It therefore follows that with us a large standing army can only be of use for preying upon helpless peoples near us; that is, for the purpose of buccaneering. It is now being seriously urged that the standing army of the United States be increased to 100,000 fighting men; that is, about four times its size at the beginning of 1898. To train and keep standing such a force is simply to train men to become good subjects of a monarchy, and inefficient citizens of the republic. The two things can not possibly survive together. It is now for this nation to choose whether it will stick to the old paths, and discard large standing armies in times of peace, or whether it will unnecessarily adopt what the Old World monarchies would fain throw off, but which they find to be an evil necessary to their very existence. Should she choose in this matter as in others to return, like the prodigal son, to the ways of the Old World, her manifest destiny will be fixed. She will degenerate into a monarchy herself in truth, if not in name. And it may yet be with her as it was with Rome of old, concerning which Gibbon said: “The image of a free constitution was preserved with decent reverence: the Roman senate appeared to possess the sovereign authority, and devolved on the emperors all the executive powers of government.” And these emperors were backed by enormous military establishments.
