Global banks are aligning themselves with the new economy, which will acknowledge Sunday as a global day of rest. In the United Arab Emirates, JP Morgan Chase, Citibank and other large financial institutions are transitioning to a Monday through Friday work week, rather than the present Sunday through Thursday schedule. Citibank, on the other hand, has gone a step farther by keeping its doors open every day except Sunday. Citibank has taken the following decision, according to an internal memo which says: “Citibank branches in the Sunni Muslim-ruled country will be open Monday through Saturday and remain closed on Sunday.”

This is a significant shift for a Muslim country in which a major international bank will be open every day except Sunday. Pope Francis is the architect of this global plan to change the world by establishing a universal day of rest. He has been exerting pressure on our worldwide financial institutions for years to enact major economic changes that are in accordance with Vatican policies that call for work-free Sunday rest. What we are witnessing in the United Arab Emirates is far more than simply avoiding work on Sundays. On December 20, 2021, Pastor Andres Ploompuu, the President of the Adventist Church in Estonia, met with the President of the Republic of Estonia, Alar Karis, along with other “members” of the Estonian Council of Churches, which includes Lutherans, Methodists, Roman Catholics, Baptists, Orthodox, Pentecostals and Seventh-day Adventists. The Adventist President, Andres Ploompuu, offered the following observations concerning the meeting between the churches and the head of state:

“It was nice to hear all of the heads of different churches proclaim that we have good relationships while we all have our own mission. This kind of Council of Churches which we have in Estonia is not seen in many other places in the world,” added Ploompuu. “It was a day of building bridges. The president was exceedingly friendly and it was obvious that he really was interested in hearing about the role of churches in our society.”

Here is the big problem. This is the same Estonian Council of Churches that is working to build bridges with the Pope of Rome. The member churches met with Pope Francis and expressed “gratitude on behalf of the Council of Estonian Churches.” They specifically reported that the Pope was “greeted by the leaders” of the “member churches.” During their meeting with Pope Francis, Roman Catholic Archbishop Andres Põder, President of the Estonian Council of Churches, gave the following remarks:

“It is a great joy, Holy Father, that meeting with you builds this living bridge between the past and the future, earthly and heavenly, and helps us to experience the unifying love and presence of Christ.”

Building bridges with the Pope of Rome? How long will we continue to justify and defend the modern interfaith movement, as well as our active participation in it? According to prophecy, Rome will rise to the point where she will become the voice of the churches. And, regrettably, the apostate Protestant churches are playing a key role in ensuring the Papacy’s full and final restoration.

“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near” (Testimonies for the Church, Vol., p. 451).

How will Protestantism be able to stretch across the gulf? How will it cross the chasm towards Rome? By bridge-building, as the President of the Estonian Adventist Church put it. We are building bridges to Rome and to the other churches. All this bridge-building we see in our world today is pointing to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Soon, the “deadly wound” will be entirely healed, and “all the world” will go after her in “wonder” and admiration, as the Bible predicts (Revelation 13:3). #sda #adventist #adventista

Christ foresaw that the undue assumption of authority indulged by the scribes and Pharisees would not cease with the dispersion of the Jews. He had a prophetic view of the work of exalting human authority to rule the conscience, which has been so terrible a curse to the church in all ages. And his fearful denunciations of the scribes and Pharisees, and his warnings to the people not to follow these blind leaders, were placed on record as an admonition to future generations. GC88 596.1

Truth Falleth in the Streets, Because I Have Called!

It is true that there are real Christians in the Roman Catholic communion. Thousands in that church are serving God according to the best light they have.

They are not allowed access to his Word, and therefore they do not discern the truth. They have never seen the contrast between a living heart-service and a round of mere forms and ceremonies.

God looks with pitying tenderness upon these souls, educated as they are in a faith that is delusive and unsatisfying.

He will cause rays of light to penetrate the dense darkness that surrounds them. He will reveal to them the truth, as it is in Jesus, and many will yet take their position with his people.

But Romanism as a system is no more in harmony with the gospel of Christ now than at any former period in her history. The Protestant churches are in great darkness, or they would discern the signs of the times.

The Roman Church is far-reaching in her plans and modes of operation. She is employing every device to extend her influence and increase her power in preparation for a fierce and determined conflict to regain control of the world, to re-establish persecution, and to undo all that Protestantism has done.

Catholicism is gaining ground upon every side. See Appendix, Note 10. See the increasing number of her churches and chapels in Protestant countries. Look at the popularity of her colleges and  seminaries in America, so widely patronized by Protestants Look at the growth of ritualism in England, and the frequent defections to the ranks of the Catholics.

These things should awaken the anxiety of all who prize the pure principles of the gospel.

Protestants have tampered with and patronized popery; they have made compromises and concessions which papists themselves are surprised to see, and fail to understand.

Men are closing their eyes to the real character of Romanism, and the dangers to be apprehended from her supremacy. The people need to be aroused to resist the advances of this most dangerous foe to civil and religious liberty. GC88 565.2 – GC88 566.1

Bible religion is not made up of theological systems, creeds, theories, and tradition for then it would not remain a mystery. The worldly would understand it through their own natural abilities. But religion, Bible religion, has a practical, saving energy, elements proceeding wholly from God—a personal experience of God’s power transforming the entire man.

Many are ignorant of the deception which palms off falsehood for truth. They entertain ideas that men may be saved by their own merit. A false religion has come in among us, A LEGAL RELIGION. We will not keep silent. The church must be roused. We will secure halls in the cities and put out handbills and the people shall be enlightened. God has sent a message of warning.

We MUST SOON WRESTLE WITH THE POWERS OF THE LAND, and we have every reason to fear that falsehood will gain the mastery. We shall call upon our churches in the name of the Lord to view this struggle in its true light. It is a contest between the Christianity of the Old and New Testaments and the Christianity of human tradition and corrupt fables.


This contest is to decide whether the pure gospel shall have the field in our nation, or whether the property of past ages shall receive the right hand of fellowship from Protestantism, and this power prevail to restrict religious liberty. The struggle is right upon us.

We are years behind, and yet men in responsible positions will in their blindness keep the key of knowledge, refusing to enter themselves and hindering those who would enter.

The message must go broadcast that those who have been imperceptibly tampering with popery, not knowing what they were doing, may hear. They are fraternizing with popery by compromises and by concessions which surprise the adherents of the papacy. But let us hope it is not yet too late to do a work that our people ought to have done years before this.

God has children, many of them in the Protestant churches, and a large number in the Catholic churches, who are more true to obey the light and to do to the very best of their knowledge than a large number among Sabbathkeeping Adventists who do not walk in the light.

But in no case are you to stand as do the physicians of the world to exalt allopathy above every other practice, and call all other methods quackery and error; for from the beginning to the present time the results of allopathy have made a most objectionable showing.

There has been loss of life in your sanitarium because drugs have been administered, and these give no chance for nature to do her work of restoration. Drug medication has broken up the power of the human machinery, and the patients have died. Others have carried the drugs away with them, making less effective the simple remedies nature uses to restore the system.

The students in your institution are not to be educated to regard drugs as a necessity. They are to be educated to leave drugs alone.

The medical fraternity, represented to me as Freemasonry, with their long, unintelligible names, which common people cannot understand, would call the Lord’s prescription for Hezekiah quackery.

Death was pronounced upon the king, but he prayed for life, and his prayer was heard. Those who had the care of him were told to get a bunch of figs and put them on the sore, and the king was restored.

This means was taken by God to teach them that all their preparations were only depriving the king of the power to rally and overcome disease while they pursued their course of treatment, his life could not be saved.

The Lord diverted their minds from their wonderful mysteries to a simple remedy of nature.

There are lessons for us all in these directions. Young men who are sent to Ann Arbor to obtain an education, which they think will exalt them as supreme in their treatment of disease will find that it will result in the loss of life rather than restoration to health and strength.

These mixtures place a double taxation upon nature, and in the effort to throw off the poisons they contain, thousands of persons lose their lives. We must leave drugs entirely alone, for in using them we introduce an enemy into the system.

I write this because we have to meet this drug medication in the physicians in this country, and we do not want this practice, to steal into our midst as a thief.

If ever there was an expression of INDELIBLE, UNQUESTIONABLE, ABSOLUTE TRUTH that ought to be accepted uncritically, this quote fits that category:

“Satan is constantly endeavouring to attract attention to man in the place of God. He leads the people to look to bishops, to pastors, to professors of theology as their guides, instead of searching the Scriptures to learn their duty for themselves. Then, by controlling the minds of these leaders, he can influence the multitudes according to his will” (The Great Controversy, pp. 413, 414, 1884 edition).

The peril of placing one’s understanding of truth in the hands of a minister or theologian was vividly portrayed by the enemy himself, who declared:

“The people accept their ministers’ explanations of Scripture, and do not investigate for themselves. Therefore, by working through the ministers, I can control the people according to my will” (Ibid, p. 340, 1884 edition).

One of the most startling acknowledgments made in recent decades with regards to doubts and uncertainties that engulf many a theological mind came from none other than Dr. Desmond Ford himself. Whatever the context and intent of his remarks, they highlight how destructive it is, in the name of scholastic freedom, to quibble and speculate over God’s Word:

“No sensible person looks for infallibility in the doctrinal structure of any church. That would be impossible. At the close of a series of more than 100 hours of instruction in one debatable field, I once told my students: ‘Half of what I have told you is wrong, but I don’t know which half.’ Teachers and church leaders at best are only one-eyed leaders of the blind.” Spectrum, November 1988, p. 61. Auburn, California.

It was such lectures by Dr. Ford at Avondale College that alarmed “The Concerned Brethren” — a group of lay people, retired ministers, evangelists, and administrators in Australia who warned our people from the 1970s until their deaths regarding the doctrinal apostasy of the New Theology. In December 1975, they wrote to the leadership of the Australasian Division, declaring:

“We, the undersigned, retired ministers and laymen of the Church, wish to humbly express to you our very deep concern regarding the downward trend of the teaching being given to our trainee ministers at Avondale College — our future leaders … Subjects such as: righteousness by faith; the age of the earth; the inspiration of the Scriptures; the seventieth week of Daniel; the two-apartment sanctuary in heaven; the Spirit of Prophecy, and a number of other subjects including the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, as believed and taught by the pioneers of this Church, are being undermined by those who lean towards modernist teachings and worldly scholarship in the Theology Department at Avondale. As retired workers and church officers, we feel that the established Seventh-day Adventist Church is being white-anted and if not checked immediately, disastrous results will accrue.”

The fruit of believing the error of the New Theology is the destruction of our confidence in the “more sure word of prophecy” (2 Peter 1:19). Let us resolve not to put our trust in erring men, but only in the word of God! #sda #adventist #adventista

“In this thy day.” The day is nearing its close. The period of mercy and privilege is well-nigh ended. The clouds of vengeance are gathering. The rejectors of God’s grace are about to be involved in swift and irretrievable ruin.

Yet the world is asleep. The people know not the time of their visitation.

In this crisis, where is the church to be found? Are its members meeting the claims of God? Are they fulfilling His commission, and representing His character to the world? Are they urging upon the attention of their fellow men the last merciful message of warning?

Men are in peril. Multitudes are perishing. But how few of the professed followers of Christ are burdened for these souls.

The destiny of a world hangs in the balance; but this hardly moves even those who claim to believe the most far-reaching truth ever given to mortals. There is a lack of that love which led Christ to leave His heavenly home and take man’s nature that humanity might touch humanity and draw humanity to divinity. There is a stupor, a paralysis, upon the people of God, which prevents them from understanding the duty of the hour.

When the Israelites entered Canaan, they did not fulfill God’s purpose by taking possession of the whole land. After making a partial conquest, they settled down to enjoy the fruit of their victories.

In their unbelief and love of ease, they congregated in the portions already conquered instead of pushing forward to occupy new territory. Thus they began to depart from God. By their failure to carry out His purpose, they made it impossible for Him to fulfill to them His promise of blessing. Is not the church of today doing the same thing? With the whole world before them in need of the gospel, professed Christians congregate where they themselves can enjoy gospel privileges.

They do not feel the necessity of occupying new territory, carrying the message of salvation into regions beyond.

They refuse to fulfill Christ’s commission, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15. Are they less guilty than was the Jewish church? COL 302.4 – COL 303.2
