Firefighters from the Westville, Georgetown, Catlin, Lynch, Fairmount, Carroll Township, and Tilton fire protection districts worked together Wednesday to fight a field fire that began west of Westville and quickly spread.

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag alert for the area because of high winds, drought conditions and low humidity. A burn ban is also in place for some areas of Vermilion County.
